    Default New to crappie fishing

I've been bass fishing for a few years now and really gotten the itch to crappie fish. I live in Broken Arrow and am looking for some local places that has crappie so I can start learning and trying different lures and techniques. Speaking of which, I have a jar of crappie bites, some basic jig heads and soft plastic grubs, and some small spinnerbaits. Are those adequate to get on some crappie if I can find a place close by that has crappie?

    Thanks for any info!

Welcome back from the dark side FishBarn! Once you catch and eat some crappie your bass days may be limited. Your equipment seems adequate if you add any beater boat plus the best electronics you can afford. If you are confined to the bank then you might buy a pack of bobbers.

Actually I recently got a jon boat. Just need a trolling motor and maybe some seats and its ready to hit the water! I'm very interested in pond crappie fishing too.

When I started crappie fishing I used a canoe. I have had a dozen boats since then but it has been 30 years. When I got up to 5 boats at the same time I was enrolled in a 12 step program. Some of the boats were Jon boats that I converted to bass boats and then sold just to learn how. A base model Jon can be converted into something pretty nice with a little effort.

I'm slowly getting my jon boat ready to hit the water. Motor then seats and I'll be good. Then I can do little things here and there.
