If the weather forecast is accurate this will be my last fishable day for a week. Weather forecast does not have a very good track record so I’m still hopeful on the fishing. It’s 27 degrees here and I am getting ready to go fishing. Another solo trip as nobody wants to go in the cold with me.

I forgot. There is one that would fish with me in the cold but Kansas is a long drive to go fishing for a day.

Yesterday I had a lot of strikes and only 10 fish. Today I had 15 strikes and 13 fish. It's hard to complain about small numbers. I have lived on Texoma for 15 years and this is the first year I have been able to catch crappie in January in the main lake. I finely got completely over the medication and was able to get past the tunnel vision I was suffering from yesterday and managed to engage both brain cells at the same time and put together a pattern.

I most often use a #2 hook but for the last 3 weeks I couldn't get a good stick until I changed to a #4 hook. Today was just the opposite. I missed my first 2 strikes and went to #2 hooks and didn't miss another strike. The catch is in the details. At times a seemingly insignificant change will make all the difference. When looking for that working pattern remember to try all available options. The fish I threw back were legal just a little smaller than I like to clean. I cleaned 9 all over 11".

Afternoon fishing may be the ticket right now. I fished all day and again didn't have anything until 3:00 pm. Color didn't seem to matter as long as it was bright. I think I did best on orange and chartreuse. The bite for was very light again. For me anyway. I could see the fish on my sonar just couldn't get them to hit till 3:00. They did prefer to be deep inside the brush today as opposed to yesterday.

As a bonus to myself I set 2 more brush piles today. Old Russ Bailey would have been proud of me if he knew I existed

Striped Bass are still simple to catch if that's what anyone wants. I had a couple again today. They sure put the old ultra lights to the test.

The Unknown Fisherman saw that I was wanting to film some fishing and hunting trips and had a Gopro 4 that he is not using and is sending it to me. Thanks Mr Unknown. I will have to edit so that no bank or background information will give up where I'm fishing.

Mr Unknown came down from an unknown state last week and went fishing with me. We had a good time on the water.
