Well shoot! That isn't good. Whenever I'm fishing there I try to do my part to obliterate them, every one I catch goes in the live well! Not as tasty to me as crappie but they'll do in a pinch lol.
I called the retired fisheries supervisor for ODWC that was over that lake. He informed me where the sandies most likely came from. The Manning hatchery at Lawton frequently had other fish enter the brood ponds when they filled them from Lawtonka. In other words, they did not screen the incoming water. When Manning last stocked channel cat in AH there apparently were sand bass mixed in. Most likely they spawn on the rocks along the dam. There is nothing that can,effectively, be done to remove them.
