Going to Kaw tomorrow. Any reports or advice where I should start?
Hard to believe but lake is still murky to muddy because of all the shad. Crappie fishing is ok just have to move a lot. Lake elevation is basically back to normal with water temps running from 40 deg early to 45 deg in the afternoon when there is sun. Crappie are feeding on the huge shad schools along the channels and ledges where there is structure close by from 12 to 20 fow. Need an extended cold weather snap and a big shad kill in the worst way.
12-18 Still murky and pretty much the same as TimY's report except for the ok part ; he is better than us. X 2 on the needed shad kill.
Not loading the boat but catching 15 to 30 big fish a trip.

Nice fish TimY. PM message for you. I did make it over on Monday. It was rough till I found fish. Ended up doing well last part of the day but the first 4 spots I tried were an absolute waste of time (which covered most of the lake LOL). Just enough scattered fish to keep me trying but not enough to make it fun. Biggest was 2.11 lbs. Could have been an absolute waste of a trip without some help Red barn is closed, last stop is out of minnows so I fished with jigs.
Right now you have 2 options to catch fish. You can either chase them all over the lake or be really patient and find some structure along a ledge or drop off where the shad are swimming through and wait. I prefer the second option. Not fast but when they come through following shad business picks up. Probably not the best way to fish with jigs but they are on the move right now. We are actually modifying our minnows right now to slow them down.
