My relatives are not shy about sending me pictures when I can't fish and they do especially when they catch those 2 plus pounders. They ended up with 30 today with 8 over 2 lbs.

    Default Kaw Lake Report 2018

Nice fish Tim. I think it’s a rule, relatives have to rub it in. LOL

We fished in some tough conditions yesterday but finally found a few fish. Wind was NW around 15 to 25 mph after the front came through and a 10 deg temperature drop. Fish were in 12 to 14 fow of water over brush. Water temp is ranging from 50 to 54 deg. Fished drop shots and jigs tipped with big shiners. Water was murky to muddy with the high winds coming off the mud flats. Didn't catch any 2 lbers but had some nice 12 to 14 inch fish. All were full of eggs but not ready for spawn yet. Did see a few small fish caught slow rolling jigs

Good early bite right now. Catching some dandy fish between daylight and 9:00 am. Water temp reached the upper 50's yesterday evening toward the north end. Starting to catch some big females on slip corks in 10 to 12 fow over brush and slow rolling jigs around cover and drop offs near spawning areas.

Corps is going to drop the lake down to 1008.00 so they can clean out the coon creek boat ramp. They are not dropping it fast but it is falling. They have it down to 1009.50 as of today so it will drop another 1 1/2 feet. Ramp really needed cleaned out but they always seem to do these projects close to spawning time. They will hold it there for a while. Water temp is ranging from the mid to upper 40's early to the low to mid 50's in the afternoons. Need a stretch of warm weather to get them going.

Nada for me today. Found fish/shad, but they had lockjaw. Not a fun day on the water with the wind.

Nice fish Tim! Myself and another fisherman tried it sunday morning. We found fish then as well, but nothing we could try would catch anything.
Partner caught one 10" and one 6" kentucky bass. Shad are everywhere.

Dennis I watched boats come and go all day yesterday. They would fish an area for 10 minutes and leave. I got in a place where the shad were swimming through every 30 minutes or so and dropped anchors and never moved all day. The shad would come through and I would pick up 4 or 5 fish. With the water temp in the 40's the fish are still on the shad. The ones I cleaned were about to bust open they were so full of shad. Found it's better to wait on them than chase em everywhere.
