Default 3 words for Skiatook lake

Bite my shorts! Sunday, fished Bull Creek, hard to locate but found 8-9" dinks stacked up in 2 places with zero over 10". Monday, Fished Tall Chief and the John Zink ranch area, found 2 piles in 7 hours. Scanned all depths, flats, drop offs, anything I could think of. Caught 3 barely over 10", one @14". Tuesday, Black Dog, fished and scanned from HWY 20 bridge up to Bull Creek both sides of lake. Coves chalked full of standing Timber with sporadic fish showing on graph. Once again, deep, shallow, flats, channels, drop offs, points. You name it, I scanned it. Fished open water, slow trolled 4 baits for maybe 3 miles worth of different area. Caught a dink at 32' down while trolling the top of Bull Creek which was 60' to the bottom of it. 2 piles for the day. Caught one 10" fish off a pile in 19'.

Probably the toughest lake I've ever tried to find Crappie on. Not giving up yet. I still have a lot of lake to go, but feel I've covered close to half of it so far. Tough, tough, tough!

I don't do well on clear water lakes. Skiatook, Beaver, etc.

I lived a mile from Osage ramp for about 4 years. I only fished Skiatook if I didn't have enough time to go to Oologah. Only place I ever caught shad was in bull creek murkier water so crappie should be there. I done best on crappie in Turkey creek area. But you are right on with being tough for finding 10" or better fish.

When the lake was being built, directly northwest from the John Zink Ranch slips today, were several multi-acre brush piles that front end loaders had stacked up. They may have decomposed by now but there were monster trees in those piles.

Fishing has been great all over the lake the last couple months. Craig, the days you fished were definitely a few of the tough high pressure days we've had. I hope we have a good turnout for the tournament, because if the water and weather conditions are right, Skiatook can be a phenomenal crappie fishery. After three years of drought a while back, the lake now has tons of shallow structure, and they've had three great spawn in a row. The overall size of the fish we've caught this year has been outstanding, and next year will be even better. I know everyone has lakes that they're partial to, but I would take Skiatook any day of the week over Oologah.
