    Default OKLAHOMA CITY TACKLE SHOW

Once again I went to the tackle show dreaming of the shows of the 80's. Once again I was let down. Its ten dollars to get in for adults and 8 for seniors. I went and was in line at noon when the doors opened hoping to find a glimmer of a deal. I found some reconditioned poles for six dollars each and a few more lures for striper fishing. There is a coleman outlet display there selling some cheap items. They have a 100 quart marine ice chest for 40 dollars including tax. I opted for the pretty green 120 quart rated for 6 days of ice for the same price. If you like looking at rattlesnakes they have a pit full. but fishing deals are scarce...UGH....TAKE ME BACK TO 1988...LOL.

yes....I just don't know what it will take to get a good show around the city again....I know our local guys just can't afford the booth price that the fair board now ask for space. Remember the good old days....what deals...Not too mention I could carry out 2oo dollars worth of free snuff and chew.....and I don't use either....lol

It was the same way in Tulsa last year. I did get to meet Starfish though and listen to a Huckabee session. That was worth the price of admission there. But there really aren't any deals at Tulsa either.

Its not even the the deals....Fishing equipment of any kind is absent. There are scentsy items, portable buildings, some Chinese toys and knives, an inflatable jump thing, trampoline, and a mechanical bull. and a company selling log cabins lol...you will find more fishing equipment at Walmart if that says anything.

I avoid anything at the fairgrounds now a days. Just not like it use to be ages ago. Nothing against the vendors just what it is.

Not at the Ponca City walmart. I swear, the sporting goods manager must hate fishing/hunting.

I went every year and got some great deals and great info from the experts, back in the 80s. But it wasn't worth a dime when they decided to charge patrons and vendors. They killed a really worthwhile experience.

Glad I did not make the drive it seems nothing is as it was in days past. I also think the mega stores are probably as good on any weekend BPS, Academy have not been to Cabelas OKC yet maybe some day. I do order a little stuff from the CDC vendors on line but I am overstocked.
