Default Going to Drumright OK and want to take a week afterwards to fish crappie.

I am going to Drumright, OK in late April and I want to take about a week to bank fish when my class is over. Afterwards I will be heading the RV to South Dakota so I don't want to get too far from Tulsa before heading north. I have never been to Oklahoma off of I-40.

I haven't been crappie fishing for twenty-five years because I've been working or stationed in areas where either you wouldn't want to eat the local fish or there was no fishing at all. That means I will want to hire a guide to catch me up on the basics- a patient guide with a sense of humor regarding the inept and the clueless.

Does anyone have suggestions for where to fish?

If you are a guide in the general area of Tulsa and think you can put up with a clueless "new" crappie fisher, give me a shout out.

    Thank you
    Kate

There are several Guides in the area who guide on a daily basis, Todd Huckabee, George Nail "Nailed Em Crappie guide service" , Mark McGuire aka Ranger on here, Brian Young Eufaula Boy on here, all of these guys are very good on FT. Gibson and Eufaula but could probably catch crappie from any pothole in the road.. PM me if you cant find there #s That will be a busy time of the year for them may want to book your trip now.

I live in Cushing about 10 miles west of drumright. As far as fishing lakes there Is Heyburn lake to the East in Kellyville,Keystone lake in Mannford, Stroud lake Cushing lake Boomer, lake mcmurtry, and Blackwell lake in Stillwater and Chandler and Bellcow lake in Chandler. They are all within an hour drive. You can also fish at the Cushing high school pond.

Thanks for the info. I'll be leaving within two weeks and intend to ask the school personnel if they have any suggestions, also.
