Default No Spawn on Lake Carl Blackwell.

so from what it looks like, there isn't going to be a spawn on Carl Blackwell this year. Several reports and all of the fish I have cleaned is confirming this. The fish are reabsorbing their eggs and are staying out deep. The egg sacks just keep getting smaller and smaller. When will the lack of this years spawn effect the fishing at LCB? What is the reason they didn't spawn? There was no major flooding at the lake. The only thing I can think of is the constant temp change we had. Any one have ideas or input here?

I think the two most important factors leading to the spawn are (1) weather and (2) lake levels. With all the radical temperature changes we had this year, I know that effected the spawn and the heavy rains kept the shoreline elevated and the crappie just didn't have the chance to group up in shallow waters. All in all, who knows what happened, I've been trying to figure it out for 20 years and I can't tell anyone anything they do not already know.

Looks as if Josh is right about no spawn. The wife and I fished from the dock and caught about 45 fish. We kept 17, with the larger ones being only 11 inches. All but one of the females still had their eggs, although the the sacs were really small and the eggs appeared to be breaking down. Pretty weird. The fish were mostly at 12' depth in 20+ fow.
