+1.....hybrids also, one was a honest "bite & de-spool my line" size, seen it strike at dam's edge, at dusk caught several dinks & two nice ones during a mid-day short visit,
caught a few nice channels @ pier closest to sandy beach..
Walleye rodeo is coming in on the 12-16th

They dropped a TON of Striped hybrids in the lake end of last year once water got back to normal and the lake is overrun with those buggers making the Walleye and Crappie bites a tad bit harder. Have to get through the Hybrids to get to the good eaters. But they Hybrid fishing is amazing lol.
There are some brush piles in between the ramps at Canadian in 15' of water. about 7 of them. Also brush at the first fishing point along damn on south east side about 20 years from the end of the point. That 2 good areas to start fishing for crappie out there.

I'm from Stillwater and used to fishing at Blackwell, if I'm not on my boat I'm at the crappie dock. Was thinking of trying out Canton this weekend since I've never been, does it have a crappie dock? If so where about is it located?

No docks on canton that I'm aware of. They have some fishing areas/jettes at the dam. You can pull off the dam road into parking areas, then walk down to the jettes. Good fishing for spawning walleye there in early spring. Let us know if you do any good. I haven't fished it in years.

I fished canton Tuesday. Never seen the water so clear. Can see the rocks 10-12 ft deep. Not sure that's a good thing. I looked for sandbass from the dam to Canadian to big bend to the islands and even to the mouth of the river. Never marked um. Anyone have a suggestion where to find the sandies this time of year?

I have not fished Canton in 35 years. If you can find the shad balls they should be close by.

I used to wade fish for the sandies in the winter. The best spots were where there was a rock outcrop close to deeper water. The sandies would mostly hang right on the edge.
ps When boaters saw me catching the fish, they would come in, and the boat would spook the fish.

We caught some 10s in the spillway slow rolling a black and chartroux crappie stinger with a slip cork 6ft deep. They where thumping best along the pillers caught 5 in 30 min. Kids caught a 3 lbs hybrid turned them all back just before sunset
