Similar situation happened in 86 with keystone and I ended up with 12 " of water in my house in Bixby.
Just received this from a friend. Quote..."My Uncle which works for the Corps just said we have several Oklahoma Lakes that have or will in the next few days go over with the expected rainfall this weekend. Those being Eufaula, Sardis, Wister, Hugo, McGee Creek, Texoma, and Thunderbird." Take it for what it is but I believe and you will have a hard time convincing me otherwise that the Corps have dropped the ball on this one.......Ranger

Not the Corps fault.

Correct , they manage the water as best they can . Sometimes Mother Nature just won't cooperate

No one can tell me that the corps doesn't have the same data available to them as NOAA does and to hold these lakes back for several weeks instead of releasing some water. Take your blinders off. I am on these waters everyday. Like I said you will have a hard time convincing me......Ranger

Yeah I was seeing tbird 10'+ over. Insane.
You believe the Corp knew the delluge we have been getting? Did you happen to take into account that by holding certain amounts here in the flood pools of Oklahoma, they were saving other parts of the Country from flooding, like say....Louisianna, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi? We've had some serious saturating rain that allows a lot of run off rather than soaking into the ground. I'm used to Oologah rising and falling like a yoyo this time of year. I get it. It's flood control. I'm pretty sure the Corp knows what they are doing as their job is to keep flooding and property damage to a minimum. Whether you realize it or not, the entire purpose of the Corp lakes is to MANAGE the water, especially in times like these. You have to consider there are only so many rivers to drain every thing into while having to consider the areas that are downstream. Regardless of what you think, the decisions they have made have already saved lives and property.
Try walking a mile in their shoes. Wave after wave after wave of heavy and moderate rain has been coming down. Areas downstream of Eufaula got blitzed in a matter of hours over the last week. Get a little compassion for what they are having to deal with to try and keep people safe. If you're upset about it because it's putting a kink in your Crappie fishing, try harder or pick up a catfish rod. I bet Ledge would give you some free blue lessons.

Wister topped the spillway this morning, the basin received about 4-1/2" of rainfall last night. There has already been one flood related drowning in the lower Poteau river flood plain from the last flood.
The level at Broken Bow is currently 624.5'. Spillway elevation is 627.5. Right now inflow is exceeding outflow by about 30,000cfs. Rain in the forecast from Friday to Tuesday. Looks like the Bow is going to overtop for the second time in its history. The trout fishermen will not be happy campers........
Read for the 1st time ever the water has enteref the flood gate at tbird. I've received over 20" of rain in 2 weeks at my house.
