I don't know who is in charge of the gates, but I know God is in charge of the rain. Maybe we should talk to Him. He always get it right!!

Hey Hatt, you see my onion plants down there around your place? Seriously, about half my garden has washed out this year, and they're forcasting more?

I blame Obama. They should drain the lakes so this doesn't happen!!
Back in 1990 we were letting out twice as much water, quote from guy on the news from Corps of Engineers, so that A. tells me they could easily be letting more out but they are not, and they obviously didn't learn their lesson from 1990. Quote #2 there is a pinch point in Van Buren Arkansas and we are worried about the river jumping its banks, ok so basically what they are saying there is we could let more water out, we could have for oh say the last almost 2 weeks now had these gates at 5+ ft open and we actually would have lowered the level of the lake, instead we haven't lowered it at all, its actually gone up since last Monday not down... I am with Ranger there is zero excuse for this, and here I thought they were mandated to ensure lakes stayed below the extent of their flood control pool, last I checked Eufaula has been above that level for over two weeks now... When that 6-8 inches of rain hits which in reality is more like 20 inches of rain when all that water comes down the river from OKC area and beyond, my dock will go over its pencils, and cost me a fortune to fix, if I still have a dock that is, all I can say is thank you Corp for being so reactive instead of being proactive...
to put it in very simple terms, if the pinch point in Van Buren can today handle 4.5 or 5 ft open gates, why were they not open that far 2 weeks ago, now whats going to happen is they will have to open them up full bore when this rain hits because obviously they will never let the water encroach anywhere near the top of the dam's elevation, so in my estimate if the lake comes up another 5-6 ft or so they will flood the tar out of the downstream areas to ensure there is no risk of losing the dam itself. Ok now I am done complaining...
If I had a dock on any lake, I believe I would make sure it could float above the top level of the lake. Toon has made adjustments to his dock, are you not capable of doing the same? Forget Van Buren, it's what's already downstream of that they are looking at.
The rains we have recieved were way above what NOAA had predicted. As for in 1990 and letting out twice as much water, I think it would depend on how much was already flowing downstream.
