    Liprippers,

What type of reel do you prefer when adding this on to one of your rods. I like an open face reel and some spincasting reels are okay with me. just wondering... think i am going to have to come up and get a hands on look at your rods. love the web site but feel its to broad of a choice when talking about the purchase of a quality of rod.

Buck, We run a 500 to 1000 series spinning reel 90% of the time for several reasons. I just had an inquiry today for a 10' rod with short handle for a baitcast reel, and you can certainly run those as well. The key is "balance" no matter what reel you choose for jiggin. If it's a rod holder scenario, then that's a whole different deal.
Remember too long a rod is unwieldy and may wear you down after all day of fishing. If you are jiggin say a 10' rod, then realistically your only fishing with 9' of rod max,....the other 1 foot of handle is under your arm.
Remember also a heavy rod that's balanced fishes better than a light rod that's un-balanced.

Listen to what LR said here. Balance is really important, especially if holding a long rod for long periods of time, such as when slow trolling. Weight is an issue for sure, but balance is probably more important.

Thanks for the information Leland, that is greatly appreciated. I will make my way up to your business as soon as i can to have a couple made for the misses and I. Be more like in late April early May before I can get up there. Got a boy that loves the turkey hunting and weekends are probably gonna be spent with him. Hopely we get tagged out and I can get me a customized rod, which I never have owned.
