    Default Copan

It's been a while since I've posted here and I didn't even wet a hook for crappie last year and stuck to those slimey fish.

I'm curious if anyone chases crappie on Copan? The upper end on the lake with all the timber looks like it would be a great spot though its not all that deep up there.

I used to fish there a lot. I don't have a boat anymore, so my fishing is a lot more limited. I fish Cotton Creek mostly, but also a few of the coves on the lake during the spring and summer. I have found them schooled up in the winter time behind the damn in the deep water. If you have a boat, you should be able to find them during the winter in the deeper parts of the river channel - especially if you can locate the shad.

Yep, with terrible success. I like to fish up the river at hula.

I hear of good reports using a slip cork in front of the dam at both copan and hula in the winter. Copan, fish the west side and hula fish the south side. That is where bank fisherman like. Also, the fishing dock at copan point is loaded with brush. Always shad in that cove. I would not hesitate to go fish it either.
