    Default Lake McMurtry anyone?


    Hello all, I'm in Stillwater OK and usually only fish at Lake Carl Blackwell and sometimes Boomer lake if I'm feeling lazy. My questions is does anyone fish Lake McMurtry and if so what are some sweet spots if you don't mind giving them up. I'm burnt out on Blackwell and wanna try my luck and McMurtry. I'll be shooting for Crappie but I take what I can get honestly!

    cwbysfan03....I have not fished McMurtry in the last few years. Not sure of many people that do anymore. It used to be so full of small fish that I have literally caught 300 fish under 8" in a day. Blackwell is a much better fishery. Are you bank fishing Blackwell or boat? I fish Blackwell a lot and would be willing to take you out on a boat sometime if your up for it. Do you use Minnows, Jigs? I am just south of Stillwater so Blackwell is close. Boomer also has some good fish if you can find them thru all the small ones.

    Have you fished the small dock there ? It looks like it may have some decent brush under it but I haven't fished it .

    Well, my wife and I tried McMurtry Sat morning but we only caught small crappie, nothing to brag about or make me want to go fish the lake again, at least not until the season changes. So I guess I will stick with Blackwell until I decide to make a drive to a different lake. @ swollencrappie, I mostly fish from my boat, unless its windy then I just fish off the rocks around the fishing dock or inside the dock. I spend a lot of time fishing the crappie dock during the winter. I mostly use jigs unless my wife is with me, she only uses minnows
