    Default Bonehead Mono

I just received my Bonehead mono line Saturday and love it. This line is super smooth and super slick. Way better quality than my Vicious line I've been using. My question though is how do you guys spool your line? On both sides of the Bonehead line are big slits which prevent me from turning the spool on its side and spooling it onto my spinning reel so that I don't get severe line twists. Every wrap the line gets caught in the slit. I tried taping the slit and had success but it was an uphill battle the whole way of spooling the line. Now if I was using it for my bait caster I wouldn't have this problem as I wouldn't need the line on its side to spool.

I may be the only one that does it this way, but I could never figure out the whole line spooling thing and make it work so I tie off to something and then I walk out in my yard whatever distance I think i need and cut it off. then take the end that was tied off and put it on spool and reel it up. it gets all the twists out that way and I never have had a problem. I have done it this way for years and it works for me.

My dad taught me the same way but on the end that is tied off put a snap swivel. When you reel it up on the reel the line can spin and relieve the twist.

Yeah I thought about doing it that way but I would have to travel somewhere to do it as my yard isn't big enough. Maybe a football field or at the lake. Just seems like too much of a hassle when normally I just do it in my garage easily with all other lines. I just don't understand why those huge slits are in the side of the spool. I really like the line so I am going to have to figure something out even if it means doing it somewhere outside of my home.

All you need is a small box and a screwdriver. Take the screwdriver and push it from the outside to the inside of one corner then thru the spool then out out the other side of the corner creating an axle for the spool. Tie your line on the reel and spool away.

Doing it this way creates line twist or at least with other line and spinning reels. This is the way I spoil a bait caster.

I had the same spool issue DrNip. I just loaded it anyway. When I got to the lake I pulled as much line off the reel as I thought I would use and let it out behind the boat. With nothing attached to the end of the line it will immediately untwist. You dont need to be going fast, 1 or 2 MPH will do.

This is the way I do it. I load it on my reel at the house and let it all out as I idle across the lake so it can untwist itself.

Guys you will have an issue with line twist from any line. Always spool it onto your reel as it comes off the spool of line. When you do that there will not be an issue. If you use slab slayers or any bait like that it will twist your line really quick. I split the tails on such baits and that helps out with the line twist......Ranger

That's the whole point of this thread as this is the way I always do it with my spinning reel and with the big slit on both sides of the Bonehead spool it makes it impossible as every time the line unwraps from the spool it gets caught in the slit. I'll just continue to tape the slit on the spool and fight it.
