I've never crappie fished Waurika but I've heard it's a good crappie lake too. It receives more attention as a hybrid/catfish lake
My daughter lives in Wichita Falls and we go there every other weekend. Plan to retire there this next year and I've been asking about some of the OK lakes that are close. Been hearing that Lake Waurika is a good crappie lake.
Anyone have comments or thoughts?
Thanks!

"Mister, I love the way you wear that hat."
"You don't know nothin'."
Just for a change, three of us went to Waurika to fish crappie instead of hybrids. Fished all day. Hit the dam, a log (not brush) pile (waded in mud deeper than our knees), trees, and a bank dropoff. Had one great run for about an hour and a half. Sizes ranged from dinks to 13 inches. Also got sandies, drum, and channels. All-white hair jig with a silver wrap worked best. Got home in time to see the last 1:30 of regulation and the OT in the Thunder-Griz game.
Lake Waurika is good also lake Lawtonka and lake Ellsworth near Lawton Okla (permits required). Also Tom Steed lake near Snyder Okla.
