Just wanted to introduce myself. Im new to this forum but was told it was a great place to share info on this great sport. My sons and I have refurb'ed a 1953 Lone Star and Dilly trailler for Crappie fishing. We have been going to Shell Lake for most of our trips. The catch as all been small and mainly near the dam. We catch alot but no size to them. Thanx in advance for any help you could give a guy trying to get his boys hooked on fishin. Coach

I've spent many days sitting on shell in a 1956 Lonestar launched from a dilly tilt catching those dink crappie. As for size of the crappie the lake is over run with dinks. Most of the big ones I've caught there came from where the old docks used to be, around from the ramp or back in the creek when the water is up. I suggest you start learning keystone for slabs.

Shell Lake is a good place to take your boys fishing. Lots of little fish and easy to catch (keeps the youngsters entertained). When you want to get a little more serious, bring them over here to Skiatook Lake and thier Uncle John will take them on a meat run.
If I get out this week it will be after the Monday night cold front. I'll send you a fishing report.
