Had to dig a big hole, but was successful
Went out around 7:30 this morning and chopped enough ice out to launch my boat 2' at a time. Ice was over 2.5" thick out towards the center of The Creek out from the ramp towards the south bluff. Turned back to the north and held tighter to the bank where it was only 2" thick. It took about 45 minutes to make it about 400 yards. After busting loose a big sheet surrounding the area I wanted to fish, I backed into it and pushed the entire sheet out of the way so I could have some cleared fishing areas. Several dinks, about 16 keepers and basically a windless, warm day in February catching some fish on my day off. I like it!

Sounds like you had a good day my friend.

Fish averaged about 15' to 18' deep. Some thumped, some hit very light. I even dropped a 1/32oz jig and caught some with it. There were times I had to question my call to even venture into the ice. I doubt if ANY of the ramps on Oologah were accessible without turning ones boat into an icebreaker. The titanic's got nothing on Reapers Creeper.

Way to stick with it Reaper! That's about how bad I want to feel the thump too but no dice. See you in Talala in a year.
Reaper - The only difference is yours is still floating
You better believe I was keeping an eye on the back of the boat around the bilge pump throughout my ice breaking travels. Some of the thicker areas I was only bending the ice downward then the motor would stop the progress. I'd have to back off and take another shot at it to get it broken. It's the thickest ice I've ever tried to negociate and if it had been any thicker, I wouldn't have been able to move through it. There were two other boats that tried to launch and follow the trail I created, one of them merely got their boat wet at the ramp and couldn't get anywhere from there so they reloaded. The other was a little bit smaller boat than mine. He made it out through the trail to the center where the ice was the thickest and decided to go back to the ramp.
I guess that's one way to have an area to yourself.

Hey Craig has the Talaha creek thawed out all the way yet??
The entire lake South of Wigganon thawed Monday morning. There's still a few small ice bergs here and there near the dam.
How have you been? Bill and I went out again yesterday afternoon and hit on a few.
