The repair of the dam is now complete. A floating courtesy dock is being installed and the boat ramp is being widened slightly. The lake will not be reopened until the lake refills. I expect the soonest it will open will be 2014. This is ALL contingent on rainfall. Brushpiles will be added also.

Thanks for the report CG. Do you think there was much of a loss in the bluegill/redear? They're really going to add brushpiles? Like that lake needs any more cover!?!

PJ - I do not expect any loss of sunfish yet. Yes, brushpiles are supposed to be added by Spring. The piles will help the fish and the fishing when it opens again.

So 2 inches of rain South of Watonga in the last 24 hours plus whatever snow happens in the next 24. That will help a bit. When you say 2014 is that based on projects that need to be finished or do you think it will take that long to fill?

The prediction is based on how long it will take to fill. There is one more project yet to be completed at the lake. I anticipate it will start in April. This is a guess based upon other ODWC projects that are of higher priority. I will know when the remaining project is to start. I will update everyone when new information is available.

So if it happened to fill this spring would they open it or do they have to finish the project you mentioned first?

They need to finish adding the courtesy dock and brushpiles before the lake fills. I will know when the projects are to begin. The fish should be fine in the lake. There were no reported fish kills on AH last fall, thank heavens, so everything should be fine. The fish will spawn as usual this Spring.

any update on American horse I heard it was reopened just hear recently from a buddy
