Default Anyone have good tips on making your jigs weedless withou losing action

I recently saw a glimpse of something on a TV show that was a piece of colored rubber added to a jig head before
putting on the jig / grub body then pulled it up and covered the hook tip.

Looked interesting and good way to add another contrasting color while being weedless.....

Let us know what your doing and your ideas!

    Good fishing guys and gals!

    Beater,
I have been using a product made by Eagle Claw called Stick Guards made in Mo.. I push them over the eye of the hook then tie my line on and push the end over the point of the hook. I have been using them for years and they work better than anything I have ever used. The only draw back is after you catch several fish you need to replace the stick guard due to it being chewed up. But it works for me. You can also buy them at Bass Pro. If you decide to try them buy the small size for crappie jigs in 1/16 and 1/8 oz....Ranger

Thanks Ranger I'll get some and give them a try. In the past I've just bent the hook point down a little but it doesn't seem to help enough in small brush.

Yep, stick guards all right. Bass Pro is often sold out of the singles but usually have the ones for treble hooks. Very simple surgery to separate those into three singles. I have had trouble getting the smalls to stay on my 1/8 oz.. My hook shanks seem to be barely too long so I have some of the larger guards too. Also note Mark's advice re: " push them over the eye". The package suggests over the shank which tears up the guard quicker and pushes the plastic bait down. I know how to use em. I just don't know how to catch fish with or without em!

Can someone link to them, I looked for a while the other day but never found them. Maybe spelling or something but whatever I'm doing to find them, it isn't right .
