I went down and fished the dock Sunday morning from daybreak till about 2 caught 1 dink crappie within the first few minutes then 6 bass throughout the rest of the day.
fished dripping springs dock yesterday and caught a basket full of 11/13 inch crappie,of course the wife caught the most and the biggest, lol!
had to visit the doc today to see how my broke foot is healing,he didnt give me good news, there was 0 new bone growth in the break,i broke it the 1st of oct so its off to a specialist next week..
in the mean time i got the boat ready for a trip to dripping springs in the morning i had the boat in this lake 1 time years ago and dont remember a thing about it except seeing some really deep water..
going to doodle sock some trees tomorrow with minnows and since i tie my own jigs ive got a million new colors to try.
i read where the state build some giant brush piles when they had the lake drained in 97 but i have no idea where there located other than the ones by the boat dock that are now sticking out of the water
if you look on bing map ground view and look south of the fishing dock along the bank there's a very large circular structure under water just off the bank, any one know what it is?
there's not a lot of posts about this lake so either not very many people fish it or its not a good lake,by the amount of standing timber in this place i would say its the best looking lake for structure i have ever seen!
i would like to hear some comments on this lake as far as the crappie fishing as well as cat fishing..brush pile locations and all your top secret places HAHA

well,i fished 6 hours covered the main part of the lake and the channel by the dock didnt get 1 hit! my fiend had leaned his pole over the side of the boat while eating a sandwich and a bass jumped out of the water and hit his jig so we didnt get skunked any way
Would love to see some 13" crappie at Dripping Springs. Fished there for the first time this spring and caught about 100 fish. Maybe 5 over 10". May give it another shot this winter
Hope your foot gets better soon Boon!

I hit dripping springs today from 12 to 6 pm. Fished the channel, which is real easy to see due to the lake being 4-5 feet low. For the first time on this lake I was able to get into a bunch of fish (50+) but they all were exact clones at 9.5 inches long. It didnt matter if they were singles or in schools every fish was exactly the same, every place I tried (save 2 very small dinks). Used the chart and black BG split tail jig tipped with a minnow on 1/4 ounce jig heads. The fish were at the channel edges around 32 FOW or in the tops of trees at 20 FOW. By the way, trying to spider rig with ANY movement in the deep fork channel is a very bad idea, way too much timber!

Thanks for the report Fishers. You seemed to answer what I thought about this pretty lake. What I can't understand is that the bass continue to grow to trophy size but the crappie all seem stunted from over population. Maybe the state should put some blues or saugeye in there to help control the crappie population or we need a big catch and keep all tournament
I have seen pics of big fish out of there, and have caught some decent ones during the spawn, but the vast majority have been that size. It may be that the lakes that have large populations of shad produce the bigger crappie year after year. I have never seen lots of shad at Dripping springs, at least not compared to Eufaula, Gibson, Tenkiller or Kaw.
I know this is an old post. The state requests that we keep our limit out of dripping springs to help control the population, even if they are dinks. It is overstocked with crappie apparently. I agree, probably need to host some get togethers at the lake and everyone keep all the crappie.
My mom with a gigantic stunted crappie...still very overpopulated like its sister lake, Okmulgee
