Default Classic Fish Fry and Meeting

After it was all said and done, our Classic, Fry, Meeting, and with all the things going on it was hard to keep track of everything and some special people we SHOULD of THANKED..First let me Thank All of you that stayed and helped in cleaning up the Senior Citzens Bldg which we used for our Fry and Meeting. Mr Cox when he came and inspected the results of our cleaning job said as soon as he walked into the room this is amazing and I don't need to see anything else. So well done guys and gals.
1 Thanks Jim (Stinkfinger) for finding such a wonderful place for us to hold this meeting and fry.
2 Thanks to each team that fished in our 1st ever Classic and coming together to make this an even better event in the future. So each of you deserve a pat on the back.
3 Thanks to all our members that showed up for the weigh-in and fry and your input into making our next years series happen and a success.
4 Thanks to each team that fished thoughout the year and for the freindships we made already with many more to come.
5 Thanks to Mrs Donna Powell and Mrs Judy McGuire to making the desserts, various side dishes, setting up our buffet style table, just doing what they do. We much appreaciate it and you most certainly should of been noticed...THANKS FROM ALL OF US..

I know I have left someone out and I am sorry if I have but I will say it now. Thank You

IT WAS A GREAT TIME, thanks all, and a real big thanks to Donna and Judy - DESSERT were wonderful.

Loy and I have NOT fished for 35yrs. Fishing has changed a great deal (NIGHT/DAY). We loved the chance to visit with you Pros after the Classic tournament to find out how we went wrong.

I wish we could have a little more time after the weight-in next year to have the 1st and maybe 2nd place teams, give general area, technique, colors, etc. they used to catch their fish. This would be a big plus to those new to tournament fishing. It also might result in more people willing to participate knowing they could learn a lot about Crappie fishing from the Best. With today's cost of gas, food, lodging, vehicle maintenance, I can see it being hard to justify this cost "just to donate".

Again .... thanks! Doug (Odie), Mark (Ranger), Brian (EB), and anyone else I left out.

Ditto to what Mark said!! I also would like to thank our sponsors throughout the year, Crappie Pro and Bobby Garland. Also want to thank Catfish Ranch for donating the Hush puppies and fish batter for our fry. Thanks to our 5 hosts this year, Todd Huckabee Store in Crowder, Big Reds Restraunt in Keys, Baitmasters in Wagoner, Winganon Bait in Winganon, and Crowder Senior Citizens in Crowder. A big thank you to Todd Huckabee, Brian Young and Mark Maguire for donating guide trips to our top 3 placers. If we left anyone out, Thank you!!

Doug, that is a great idea. I would like to see everyone who places at each tournament at least share a little about their "technique". Most may not share their coordinates but I think most all of us would share depth, colors, and general area.

One more sponsor we forgot to mention was Robert Howell from Crazy Angler Tackle...

Yes Yes Yes to the winners being able to share techniques, strategies, DOW, area of lake fished, and baits used. Our winners of each tournament would be honored to share their fishing abilities to our Oklahoma Crappie.Com brother and sisters as I see it.

Another thing I should apologize for is not having everyone to introduce themselves at our meeting. I am terrible at names and if I have a face to go with the name it makes it somewhat easier.

Now I have something we as a family on here need to do alittle brain storming about. At or around our last tournament of the upcoming season I want to have a kids day. Whether its the day before our classic or our last tournament in May. My thoughts are taking a kid fishing. A small entry fee to prize money (TBD) which we would have to come up with along with sponsors help for baits and tackle, and even Zebco getting involved. Most of us have a boat and if each of us would take a kid fishing on this special day along with their Dad or Mother which ever it should be we could fill a lake with fishing kids. It would have to be a child of your choosing either a child from down the street or one from your church or a child that belongs to a coworker. When I say this I mean a child that hasn't been in a boat or one that has limited access to go fishing...Yes I know it involves fishing 2 days in a row but we have to sacrifice something..lol..And I for one would be doing that by missing the doors open at my church..Yes a Saturday and Sunday Tournament..
Another thought is after the kids day on the lake and after the prizes are handed out and every child will get a prize would be a hot dog cook out. With 3 or 4 grills we could cook alot of dogs.
After talking with Odie we would like to see each child come back and bring their familys to the weigh in of the official tournament to cheer for their fisherman that took them out on their day on the lake.
SOUNDS LIKE ALOT OF FUN TO ME AND HOPE YOU ALL AGREE........So lets start this off and do alittle brain storming and you can post you thoughts and concerns...I will start a forum post in the near future so hang onto those thoughts.......Ranger

I think you guys are right on with posting what the top teams where doing. Our team finished second place, we where fishing Gaines creek from a suggestion from Brian or "EB".
We used 2" Bobby Garland slabslay'r pumpkin seed /pearl chartreuse, 2" Yum Wooly Beavertail pmk/chart. We fished stumps in 1'-4' of water.
Our team finished 1st on Fort Gibson using the same lures at 4-13' in brush piles up the river .

A special thanks to Brian Young for pointing us in the right direction since we have not fished Eufaula before.

Because my boat will only fish two people I would not be able to take a parent/child fishing. However I would be more than happen to help and bring a grill for hot dogs. It is a great idea and the OKLA Crappie.com family "I think" should support it 100%.
