    Default claremore lake

I live in claremore and fish below oologah damn a lot and just recently started fishing claremore lake. I'm boatless(for now) and can found walking the banks. The past 3 days I have caught some really nice fish. I caught a crappie on Tues. that was 15 inches and a few dinks. I was using my crappie rig with a red and white roadrunner. I hung several bass in shallow water that I couldn't land. The big crappie was full of eggs. Wednesday I went back but the north wind was blowing. I caught one crappie that was 13 inches and a small bass. Friday I caught a nice bass that weighed three lbs on a spinnerbait. I also caught 3 more small bass and a crappie. I fish on the north side a lot and have never fished any of the docks. Oh I walked up on three snake while walking the banks that scared the crap out of me. I thought it was too cold for snakes. Picked 2 bags of wild onions also. A few more weeks Morel mushrooms will be up. I need to find some good spots closer to home.

Did you catch these at Claremore Lake ?

We used to fish inside the dock there. It seemed that we caught plenty of crappie, but keepers were rare.

We would like to bank fish Claremore Lake, but really don't know where the good places are there.

I've never fished there, but it would be nice. Guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and do it. It's pretty darn close.

Though, I'm planning to head to Oologah this weekend.

I believe they do charge a fee to fish from the bank. It's not much, like $1.00 per day I think. I've never had much luck fishing there from the bank or outside docks, although it's very nicely maintained and pleasant.

The inside fishing dock is very nice. Air conditioned in summer, heated in winter. Very clean. The ranger station is less than 100 yards away, and has security/monitoring cameras viewing the inside dock activity. Wife used to go there and fish by herself in daytime.

It's close for us too. But just don't know where the good bank fishing spots are. Let us know if you find them.

Ive never crappie fished Claremore lake, but i do a lot of jugging for catfish there. Lots of eaters and some good sized cats. I know a lot of people like the dock for crappie fishing, but im sure you can catch them in the coves and shallows soon. I keep meaning to head up and spider rig the coves, probably will soon. Anyone who fishes the lake for crappie please chime in. I live in Owasso and its not too far, thats why i like it. Heres a link to the specifics on the dock and lake. Default claremore lake

There is no fee to fish from bank! There is no fee to fish the outside of the dock, but there is a fee to fish the inside of dock. If u live in claremore you can bring your electric bill and get some type of discount? U can catch crappie, but no big consistent size. I have lived here all my life and there are minimal spots for consistent catches and if u do. They are 7-10in crappie. But if u are looking to have fun? Try docks!

A couple times I've filled stringers with 10"-12" slabs at Claremore, but I've been blanked more often than not...so it's an inconsistent lake at best. But if the wind is right and you can get a bobber to sit on some of the standing timber that's a great way to slay 'em there.

I've also seen 5+ lb. largemouth come out from around the docks. So if you do hit the docks I suggest working some crank baits or similar around it from the bank to try and pull some of the bass off first. I've always found the crappie to be more aggressive when some of the natural pressure is taken off...

Question for those that's fished at Claremore. Do you know where I can find minnows around there? I saw someone with them the other day, but didn't think to ask.
    Thanks
