    Default Fished Carl Blackwell 4/11

Launched from ramp by Tackle Store at 9am. Used Med. Shiners trying for Crappie in the Coves along the S. side of the lake to the West. No Crappie.
Caught 3 Blue cats & 2 Channels from 1 pound to 3 pounds in a sheltered cove 3 feet deep on the Shiners.
Tried for Crappie shallow several places without success. Water temp was 62-63. I do not know this lake. I did throw some 1/4 oz Traps, Grubs, X Rap on some windy points hoping for a Saugeye-no strikes.
I saw 2 boats catching some Crappie out in a Cove mouth in 5 ft of water on isolated cover, but not many.
Good Luck this weekend. Leave a post. i also fish hefner and Bell Cow and will post on those also. R7hunter.

I'm boatless but have had a lot of success along the rocks near the "bridge" that you go over when driving to the tackle shop. The crappie in my avatar is actually from that area.

    thanks guys,

Fly, I know where you are talking about, used to catch a ton of fish there in college by fishing along one side and then back down the other, used to be a good ammount of brush on the west side. We'll be in a boat so we will probably hit the mouth of several coves first. Might even slip over to McMurtry if things aren't happening at LCB. I used to know some pretty good hot spots over there, just hoping the wind doesn't blow too much. I won't get my hopes up too high, just looking to get out on the water.

    Default blackwell-weather

    NEWS,
Rain, winds ranging from E to E/SE to E/NE with Rain this weekend, and hi temps 60"s. If everything has lock-jaw, the Cats should still bite some in sheltered coves, probably out to 5 feet deep or so.
Never give up. That has been my success story. With the Hybrids and Saugeye in there you always have a chance at a great fish.
Where do you live out West. I am a Landman and frequent western OK.

tomorrow will be the only day we get to fish, last forcast I saw the winds arent supposed to shift until the afternoon, we certainly hope that's the case anyway. I'm in the NW, woods, woodward, major area. being a landman you are lucky to be working right now! but from what I hear things are really picking up again.

just thought I would give an update of how things went friday, my brother wanted to go to lake McMurtry so that's where we headed, tried in 3-5 FOW near brushpiles in the coves and had no luck, moved back out into the channel in 7-10 FOW and slammed some dinks, about every 4th fish was 10" or bigger, ended up with several 13" and one 15". Tried several colors but the only thing they were biting were Yellow 1/16 oz worked super slow, picked up a couple nice sandies as well. We had a pretty good day on the water until the rain really started picking up.

Fished Blackwell today. Took a while to find them but finally found in a small channel that was 12-14 feet deep. I fished some trees on the edge of the channel and did pretty good. Used the blue and white Joker by Mr. crappe and a black and pink 2" beavertail. Water temp was right at 60. The wind was howling out there today which limited where I could fish.

had a friend Fish Blackwell yesterday, he said he caught several, but only had 17 Keepers. Fished at the fishing house by the store. He used various BG baits. Good news, he said the Tuxedo shimmer did very well and he had several keepers using that bait! May be time for another night fishing adventure out there but by the fish house this time!!!!! Excited to try the Reel-Lite!
