    Default Thunderbird Saugeye

Well first time I have had the boat out since November and only caught 2 fish; however this first fish I caught made the trip worth while.

I am kicking myself for not having it weighed at Denver corner so could get a more accurate weight, but according to my scales it was 8 lbs.

yup a lot of good eyes in Bird. last couple years we have pulled in a lot of good 20-24' eyes of the points and old roadbeds. I have yet to weigh one we have caught as state record is 10lb and not sure on bird but it was 9.7 but not sure if that was recent or old.
During Crappie spawn we always nail some pushing jigs.
I'm sure that one was fun on 10' rod if thats what you were using good fish Dirk.

Scott I was fishing for eyes yesterday which makes this catch sweet. Good old, 1/8oz curly tail grub. I had my doubts about landing this fish but I learned last year to always keep my net with me at t-bird.

Nice fish. There are some good sized Saugeyes in Dirty Bird.

    Default Saugys

Hello everyone. I'm from Salina,Ks and the saugeye (saugys) have become
more than a passion for me. I've become a professor on saugeye fishing and
your welcome for getting them. Their origins are from the Kansas lakes where
they were flushed out of going downstream into Oklahoma. I will promise all of
you one thing, your not fishing aggressive enough for them. They are feeding
machines, always hungry and one very large mouth, its as big as their girth.
Fish BIG and catch big fish, until your yoy shad and crappie get to about 3/4"
to 1" then downsize to crappielike stuff through the summer. As the water temps begin tofall, cranks and big plastic again.Got pictures on kansasangler
of our hybrid saugys. Keep the thread going and I'll answer any questions I
can cause I want you "banging the hogs"
All lakes raise a foot when I step in the boat

My Dad Has 2 Deep Freezers Full Of Eyes, From Dirty Bird, Thats All He Fishes For. Last I Knew He Held The Record Eye From Dirty Bird, He Has A Unique Way Of Fishing For Them, He Says, I Dont Know What It Is, But He Said He Would Rather Eat Eyes Than Crappie. And Has Two Deep Freezers Full To Prove It. He Says He Catches Tons Of Them From Dirty Bird. I Will Ask Him What The One On His Wall Weighed.
