Default Anybody gonna go ice fishing?

Since I've pretty well wrapped up my deer hunting for the year I was thinking about some cold water crappies in one of our farm ponds up here so on the way back from the deer stand the other day I drove out to have a look at the water level. It's fairly full but had already started Icing over, I can only imagine how much ice will be on it after this major cold front. I also noticed some action on the heated docks sticky today so my question is who is headed to the docks once the front breaks? I'm out until x-mas is over as we have a family event every week until new years but I look forward to the reports, until then I guess I'll just be trying to get some jigs tied up.

I've never been ice-fishing and I suppose I never will, just too dangerous in my opinion. But this is a good time to hit the heated docks/marinas and enjoy the company of other fishermen.

Stink - Now ice fishing isn't too dangerous unless you get on the lake before there is good ice. A lake I have ice fished in Northern Nebraska already has 4.5 " of ice and 2' is expected before Winter is over. The first day I walked on the ice I was nervous to say the least. The ice creaked and popped and I was told not to worry. If the ice is creaking and popping that was good because it was cold enough to be making more ice. It is REAL scary when you are sitting in your shelter and you hear a pop and the ice cracks between your legs or right next to you. THAT is scary but you get use to it. It is amazing what you catch on short 24" rods and 4# test. In late January I may venture back to Valentine,Ne for some hole dunkin, beer drinkin and eatin some fine corn fed Husker beef. Nothin can be finer than bein in Valentiner when its colder than chit jerkin jaws in 5 degs below. Kinda like bein in Eagle Nest N.M.dingin elk when its 10 below before sunup. AAAHHHHH mate now that's de life full. It just takes cojones or be very mentally disturbed, take your pick.

    hey Z

I'll be fishing a whole lot at the Blackwell dock after my last test on Friday. If you're anywhere near the area, you should come by and fish and watch a Cowboys basketball game

I guess my post sounded a little too serious, after re-reading it today I did make it sound like I was gonna be on the ice, that wont happen, however, I do know there are some sunken cedar trees in that pond and the jon boat may have to become and Ice breaker to get me out there over them.
Jiggy, I hope to make it over there for a basketball game this year, I'll be there on saturday to watch my brother graduate but there will be no time for fishing, just a quick trip over and back but when I do I'll give you a heads up and will be looking forward to it.
