New bait for cats at Hefner
Tried a new (to me) bait this morning at Hefner. Hot dogs soaked in fish sauce outfished the fresh shad. Got cats up to 10 pounds, but had one fish take down a large balloon and hold it under while I was running to the rod. It let go just as I got to the rod. It takes a BIG fish to pull down that big balloon. They kept biting even after the temp got into the 90's. Usually they're done by 9 AM. They were still biting when I left at 1 PM.

Great job! Try adding in some red food coloring just a couples drops goes along ways add a couple tablespoons of garlic powder let er set in the fridge a day or two for color and scent in soak in !they love. If u have any left just throw it in the freezer and urready to go for the next trip just lay it out long enough to thaw before going!

Thanks. I usually use cherry extract for flavor and red color. Blackberry extract is really good. Banana oil, mulberries, sardine oil, etc. work well at times. Garlic is something I use for both cats and trout. I make my own garlic marshmallows and add them to the tip of the hook when fishing for either cats or trout. I'll bet we could have a great time talking about various recipes. My wife says that I probably go fishing more to find someone to BS with rather than to just go fishing.
