Size: 81.6 KBHere is my summer shade rig but I can't take credit for it as Ernest Paty installed it prior to selling his boat to me. Last summer I was too busy catching the heck out of em to notice the sun peeling the skin off my neck but I plan to put the umbrella up this year if it doesn't interfere with my hook set! It stows easily in a side compartment and goes up in less than a minute. Mr. Paty said he could run the boat full out after simply collapsing the umbrella, leaving it upright in the pedestal slot. If anyone is interested I will take some close ups of this simple rig when I get home from this cruise.

Got a chance to use the top today and it worked great. I've had both a patio umbrella and a SportsBella on in the past but they both did interfere with my hook set and were pretty flimsy in the wind. Looks like Ernest had both a bimini and patio umbrella up. Mine had to be taken down to run on plane. I didn't get much speed up today but did get the boat up on plane and it seemed sturdy. About one pm it sure was nice to get under it for a jalapeno bologna sandwich and soda.

That's the same thing I was talking about. The 'holder' is made with pvc pipe and fittings as I explained in a previous post. They do work great and are simple to build and most importantly, CHEAP!

Last time George. It's time you learn to hold the camera right, rotate the pic in your phone or send it to your computer and flip it there. If it is upside down when you are creating your post, then fix it before you post it please.

Fished Texoma yesterday and used my umbrella, very similar to the pic from crappie cillar above. I have a biminy top too but, don't use it. Man the umbrella up front was a life saver. My Lund has the bases up front for three pedestal seats. I used the middle one for the umbrella so two of us could still fish side by side and it worked perfect. Yes, it does interfere a bit when bringing in fish but, not enough to stop me from using it in this weather.
We were able to stay out much longer than ever before with the shade!
