    Default Garmin Install

I purchased a new Garmin 93sv and had the free install. They told me I was about 40 on the list. So after 3 weeks I couldn't handle it anymore. It's hard to have a new toy and not be able to play. So I took advantage of the uncertainty of the weather today and installed it. My first experience with a down and side unit. So if any fellow members are in the same boat it didn't take very long and I offer my assistance.

Does the Garmin have CHIRP or is that another manufacturer's brand?

I did a lot of research before I purchased. I'm anxious to try it on the water.

I have a lowrance hds7 gen3 on the front of my boat and a garmin 93sv on the back. The garmin is hands down the easiest to use and the picture are the clearest of the two but the GPS part of the lowrance is by far the best in my opinion.

sonny boy, what is the problem with your Garmin GPS. I had a Lowrance Touch 9 on the console and an elite 7 up front both hooked to a Lowrance Point 1 antenna and replaced those with a Garmin 73DV up front and 93sv on the console and saw absolutely no difference in the GPS functions between the two brands.

It seems to me to be faster and I can mark a stump with my lowrance and go right to it with the garmin I may have to look a little if I could afford to do it over again I would run 2 93sv and a lowrance GPS unit with a 5 inch screen that way I wouldn't have to split the screens also would like to add garmin is a hole lot easier to use wouldn't take for it. Another thing okie Bob has 2 touch 9s hooked up to antenna and I feel like its not as fast and as accurate as the gen 3 that's just my opinion and it could be just me
