As you can probably tell, I'm bored and have a bad case of cabin fever. With the current temp at 20.6 F, I don't think I'll go fishin~
So, I double checked the Texoma lake record and was shocked to see it is only 2.8 pounds! What was even more surprising is that the state
doesn't show individual lake records for black and white crappie! Just Crappie. They do show a picture of each record holder holding his/her fish
and it does appear to be a black crappie for Texoma, as best I can tell from the pic.
But, for the overall state records they do show a black (4lb 10oz) and a white (4 lb 15 oz) and both were caught in stock ponds!
I'm also certain bigger fish have been caught in Texoma and I've been told it's just not worth the effort to get one verified. If that's the case, I'm going to do my best to get in the record book this spring! I don't officially have a 3 pounder yet but, unofficially I'm pretty sure I've caught at least one and my goal is to officially get one over 3 and that would be a new lake record for Texoma.
Anyone know why the state doesn't track black and white as separate records instead of combing them together?

The state record black crappie was caught in Picher Oklahoma in a chat pile pond.
