Yup!
I saw a snake swimming by my dock yesterday about 18 " long. It swam to the pontoon boat then went around the dock to land. It stopped when it saw me, raised up out of the water, and opened its mouth. I swear it was a copperhead. It had that brownish-reddish pattern. I didn't get a look at the shape of its head.
So, can they swim? Peke
Yup!
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
Most ALL snakes can swim.
While it could have been a Copperhead, it could have just as easily been a water snake with similar coloration.

Better believe it

Ah Geez! Now that I think about it...it must have been a COBRA! Yeah! They are all the same to me...all snakes.
Peke
It was a copperheaded rattle moccasin. I am sure of it. Yes, Peke copperheads do swim. I have seen them fishing in Big Sallisaw Creek years ago. By fishing I mean they were laying in the riffles with their head out of water and looked like a stick bobbing. I looked twice before I realized what they were then pulled my pistol and shot 1 or 2.
I think youve guessed by now that they cam swim.Thumbs Up
Well geez! I think it said..."Bite me!" Rofl
You left that one wide open!
CG- maybe it was a copper moccasin headed water cobra with a rattle!
I will send them your way since you like fishing with them so much..After all you were willing to stop fishing to play with them!
I played with them with a .22 in hand
