I started the foundation on the cabin in August of 2009 and today I can say I am finished.Hands Clapping

I built the last 16 feet of railing for the deck and got that installed Monday, had some base trim inside to do and a few other odds and ends that needed completion.

Here's a picture of the cabin after all is done:

So, the building of the cabin is over, now I will start cleaning up the mess and doing some landscaping. Lotsa stuff needs to be hauled off and bits of this and that need to be picked up. Stuff you leave laying somewhere with intentions of picking up later, but find yourself so tired at the end of the day you decide it can wait til tomorrow, then it is forgotten because it blends in with the rest of the junk laying around.

Looking back over the last two years I can say this has been fun, but a real challenge and at times it strained me beyond compare. Not sure what I was thinking when I decided to build this myself, but I won't be doing this again.

I turn 60 in November and the way I have it figured, this cabin should last me from here on out.

Finally, in closing, I want to say a great big thank you to my friends here in the forum that always had a compliment to share, encouraging words, and the welcomed pat on the back when the ol back was aching like the dickens.

So, thanks again, and the cabin on the lake project is done.:D

Wow!!!Stink Wow!!! my hats off to you and your home. It is probably my self-satisfying doing it yourself than having someone build it for ya. It is a job well done, i am totally jealous and envious of the time you spent to do that. Again Great Job Stinkfinger!

Stink, that looks great! You've done a great job. I enjoyed following along as you built it.

It won't be any time before you'll be wanting to start another project! Say, how about a Guest house there?? Thumbs Up
