Thread: American Horse Lake

Try fishing around 10' - 12' because the clarity. I fish as deep as 25' during the heat of summer.

Cool I think we are going out there wed to stock up on some bait size gills. I am going to try some deeper fishing and see if I can pull in some pigs.

Anyone been out there this year? I am thinking of going tomorrow evening.

The recent rains in the state which have helped the farmers and everyone else out but has not impacted American Horse Lake much. The recent 1.5" rain at the lake has had little impact on raising the water level. The best GUESS is that the lake MAY open in 2014 IF we get enough rain. No need to call ODWC at the Byron fish Hatchery to see when the lake will open. The lake will NOT open until it is full.

Where is this lake located at? I have never heard of it before. Thanks, Bobo

Bobo, I think it out west, maybe around Waynoka, but then, of course, I could be wrong (again)!

American Horse Lake is located 1 mile North and 10 miles west of Geary, Okla. It is approx. 1 1/2 hour West of Okla City. The lake is currently closed and will be for another year or more until the lake refills.
