I hate camping in Oklahoma during July and August! I'm not going to the mountains this Summer so I'm thinking about getting in one last tent camp before those two months get here. I've been watching several lakes as far as their levels go. The COE must have finished their repair work at Pine Creek as they have been dropping the lake for almost a week now. It should be back to normal well before the end of June. I am tentatively planning on taking the tent down there during one of the two last weeks in June. If so, I will stay at Lost Rapids COE campground

I'll probably stay 4 or 5 nights during the week. Pine Creek has good facilities and it's also close to Broken Bow so I might go over there one day to fish.
This is all tentative, iffy, speculative, and undecided. If it's just Bea and me that's okay but I wanted to invite anyone that might be interested. I'll post on here to update if it gets any closer to happening. It will be my last tent camp until at least after Labor Day. I'll fish (mostly late afternoon and evenings) during the Summer Months but during the day I'll probably be napping under the A/C. If I had the ability to do so I would spend the entire hot months (here) in Maine eating seafood and Crappie fishing. I have never seen Crappie as pretty as the ones that bee posts photos of from there. I've never met him but love to watch his postings of Maine Crappie. If you have never seen his posts look him up and you will see some beautiful Crappie photos.

Floyd, if Pine Creek campgrounds are not usable for a while after the water drops due to damage and clean up, might want to try Sardis. I fished both Hugo and Sardis yesterday. Hugo was so bad, I left after 5 hours of fishing (not one bite!). I tried the river all the way out to mid lake. Sardis was its usual self, after 5 hours fishing, had a dozen or so fish from 1 to 1.25 lbs and 25 or so smaller fish. Water has good vis and is normal level. Fish are scattered, you have to go from pile to pile, stump to stump & tree to tree but they are biting well. 8-10 foot deep, more water you cover the more you will catch. Good luck and keep us posted were you go. I will prolly still be fishing somewhere down there. I think the rest of Eastern Oklahoma is going to be messed up for a while.
Thanks, Fishers. I'll continue to monitor the campgrounds and water levels at the southern lakes. The electric hookup sites at Lost Rapids are available now so I don't think there will be a problem there, but I'll keep on top of it. I like Sardis. I usually camp at Sardis Cove as I prefer the remoteness of it (not so many party goers in the summer.) Sardis was my home lake back in the 70's and 80's during my green carp life. My mother in law lived in Talihina then so we spent lots of time down that way. I just prefer to fish for crappie at Pine Creek although you have to work harder for big fish. I like the river type layout of the lake. I hope you can join us for a day or so.

It's only 5 feet high this morning and there is still seven weeks for it to settle down! I reserved site 23 for June 26-30.
