Yesterday most of the rest of the campers arrived and a total of 17 (I saw) were brought in. Most everyone else was skunked again. Tough fishing to say the least. Heading out again this morning to try to figure out how to entice them to bite.

I got there around 10:30 yesterday morning. Had the pleasure of riding with Chatt, Frank and our host, Cricket George. We got a late start and they had fished the two days prior to no avail. Frank hooked a monster Crappie in brush that had to go about 3.5". I caught a blue cat. Ran around the lake the rest of the day and pretty much got skunked until Chatt landed one around 12", that he foul hooked. That was it for Friday.

Enjoyed great company in the evening and had some really good chili. I'll let someone else tell who won the cook-off but it was almost unanimous. Doug and Robert showed up late along with Dstreet and that crappilicious dude. D and C brought some fish in. I don't know how many they caught though. The Doug and Robert pull out a 5 gallon bucket of Crappie that most were 1.5 or better. I think their big fish was around 2.33. They schooled us all and told us where and how.

The next morning George and I and those two Kansas Raider (Whom I love) were first at the ramp. It was breezy and chilly out there. We went over to an area that Chatt and Frank had fished before with some luck. Working our jigs Frank hooked and boated a very nice 15 1/4" Crappie that was a pure fatty. I'm guessing it at 2.5, maybe a hair better. We fished our rears off the rest of the day and got no mo Crappie. I actually had two hits within 5 minutes of each other then I hooked a small drum. Reaper, two day total, 1 Blue, 1 Drum, two missed bumps. Chatt caught a Black Bass. I think it might have been his only hit. Fished showed almost every where, brush, ledges, drops and we had nothing they wanted. Even used weedless jigs easing through thick brush to the bottom and nada.
    Tough day for sure.

Robert and Odie got back on them early, then they had an incident that I'll let Doug explain.

I took off before tonights fish fry and am now home. I'll just say...There's no place like Oologah, there's no place like Oologah. Ha!

Well, there were several taking pics. I only took a couple of Doug and Robert on the water and was making a little video while out with them, till the incident and checked my sd card and I guess it is fried. So that's all I have.

Was that you that got to experience the Kiamichi river close up and personal Timmy Tom? I will say this, as slow as the bite was on Hugo, Doug and Robert put us all to shame using your product.

I first want to say thank you to Dave and Crew for putting this thing together. I sure enjoyed visiting with everybody and meeting some new folks also. The chili was very tasty, especially the one with th BEANS!! They put me in a bedroom to myself, I don' t know which end was producing the noises they didn't like, maybe both.

Here is the fishing report. I shared a boat with Robert (wister slab daddy) and Tim (owner of Timmy Tom Jigs). Friday we started in the lake, with 2-3 inch visibility. All the fish we could see on our graph were in 10-15 fow no matter what depth the water was. We marked about 5 brushpiles on the east side of the lake in 15 fow. We caught 3 nice keepers and lost one at the top of the water. We headed to the river a little after noon and started fishing at the 93 bridge. Robert caught a nice one fairly quickly and missed another one. We scanned the east bank all the way past the bend and marked standing trees and laydowns with what appeared to be crappie around them. Same pattern, the fish were 12-15 feet down in 15 -18 fow. Water visibility was 6-8 inches in the river. We tried for 2 hours without a bite. We moved to the other bank and decided to sit as still as possible on a spot. After about 10 minutes of no bites Robert missed one. A very short time later I caught a 2.33 pounder and a 1.61, Robert caught a 1.73. Between 3 and 6 we landed 8 fish over 1.5 pounds including a 1.87 and Tim's 1.67, we ended the day with 17. Our biggest 7 weighed 12.25 pounds. Jeff and Darrell had 7 very nice crappie fishing around us with their biggest weighing 2.02. Our best color was blk/char Mikes Custom bait fished on 1/8 oz Timmy Tom Weedless Jig heads. We shared that info with everyone at camp and told them SLOW was the key.

Saturday 7 boats from our camp fished from the 93 bridge to Rattan Landing in the river and caught about 65 Really nice fish. We kept 18, our biggest weighed 1.87, with 7 over 1.5. Nick, Chase and Jeff had 15 with a near 2 pounder. Same pattern, slowly working stucture in 13-18 fow. Our best color was a Blue/Char Mikes Custom Bait on an 1/8 oz Timmy Tom Weedless jig head.

The fish fry was awesome. We had to eat and run as 3 of us had to work at the fire station today. Thanks to SLAB for sending the shirts. I gave mine to Tim, I figured the Arkansas guy needed something with Oklahoma on it.

Even though the numbers were low the quality of fish was great. I have been catching my limit almost everytime on Oologah and Kaw the last month, but I think I enjoyed catching the quality at Hugo more. I definitely will be back soon.

Thanks to all who had any part in this and thanks to those who came. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Wister Camp in March. It is another big fish factory.
