us talala/ oologah fishers and hunters oughta meet one day someplace, sometime ,to talk fishin and meet one another at someones house or cafe etc. what do ya think?
On Friday we fished the corpse piles around Redbud and water intakes and managed 1 keeper. We then moved to the A loop and Skull and ended up with 19 keepers. Wind made it difficult and had to work hard, but a lot of fun. Several fish had eggs, which surprised me...too early? Thanks to Odie for his posts and pms.

Its all about how ya wiggle it!
I don't know where Lightening creek is. I'll have to get out the map. Is it in the far upper end of the lake? I don't get up that way cept on very rare occassions, and then stick to the standing timber around 18' of water. I do know that the only time I launched at Double Creek, I was wishing I didn't. Took me over 2 miles of very slow going just to find deeper water. Tree stump city. Submerged!

I never even heard of A loop, but skull is one of my very favorite areas. I've only lived in Oologah for about 7 years now and have barely scratched the surface of trying new areas. I like to spend as much time hunting for new areas as I do catching. Anyone familliar enough with Oologah knows the wind rules and it's rare that it is light enough to even venture out into the rougher waters, let alone try to fish it. I plan to go on a mission this spring and summer. I hope to spend a lot of nights on the water. Any of you guys happen to see a boat at night that appears to be pitch black other than a couple of black lights going, that would most likely be me.

Lightning creek is on the ne side of the lake. The best way to access it is to drive around to the ramp just north of the lightning creek bridge. Very hard to access from the lake due to stumps and lake is silted in at mouth of creek. Good fishing at times.
Common sense isn't always that common!
Lightning Creek is stump city and it does have some sort of channel. I hear it is dynamite for springtime crappie action
Up until the last flood, you could access Lightning Creek from the lake, but it was a pretty narrow channel. I don't know if you can now. I run too large of a boat to make it up there now, and i won't even try to launch off the Lightning Creek ramp.
We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing."
The best way to get into lightning is from the ramp in the creek. tryin to access the actual creek from the lake takes too much time. I usually launch from the poor mans ramp, but keep an eye on the wind you don't wanna get stuck (from experience). I fish up north as much as i can during the summer(less pressure). Good luck during the spring, there's going to be tons of people but if you time it right you can hammer them. There other down side is about the time they start biting in the creeks, the rains will come and ruin it all. You also have panther and salt creek in addition to a handle full of others. Don't fear the stumps thats where the big fish hide.
Was that a bite?
My current days off are wed / thurs so I mainly fish during the week. Oologah is one of the closer spots for me as I'm living in East Tulsa, so I'm trying to learn more about it. I know the main lake gets treacherous when the wind picks up. The pow-wow of fellow big O fishermen sounds like a good idea too.
