Crappie Reaper, do you know anyone that has a backhoe, now would be the time to work on Vada Point ramp, a backhoe could pull some of those rocks up to the end of the ramp, which has a foot and a half drop off right now and then pull the rest of the rocks up on the bank, it is very oblivious why so many props are torn up there, just a suggestion, even if we had to pay a operator, maybe a few of us would donate some money, I certainly would, something to think about, thanks.

Excellent idea..except for one thing.....liability, liability, liability. But, that is exactly what needs to be done.

I have 50.00 towards that vada project if it happens. Anybody know someone with the Corp who might promote that project with our tax dollars?

Corp claims it's a County problem, County claims it's got to be done through the Corp. Been there, done that, already checked it out. Now if any of you have any power in the Owasso area, the commish for this area lives outside Owasso and concentrates on the money areas. It would be up to Mike Helm to call the County boys in on it. The County repairs the turn around about once every 5-6 yrs.

The Corp is not about to spend money at Vada Ramp since it makes them squat. They will concentrate on the main parks only. I wouldn't be surprised if the Vada Point Ramp has been written off and shall remain as is until it's no longer usuable like some other Ramp areas of the lake.

On another note, I launched at Wiganon this morning along with my buddy Bill. We caught a few keepers in various depths along with about 40 dinks. Nice day to be out though and had enough fish to stink a skillet. Biggest fish went around 14".

I fished yesterday from 1430-1700 and it wasn't very good. I caught 7 fish with 1 keeper, I fished brush and ledges with lots of fish showing up. Most of the fish I caught were 3-4 inches long which may be what I am seeing on my graph. I saw Kevin at the ramp and he had similar results.

On a side note we saw a rescue boat head out to rescue a man and woman stuck in shallow water. They were over on the east side between Spencer and Winganon. I went back down there to check and they finally got them unstuck about 1900. So even though the wind was the key factor for cancelling the tournament, low water has to be considered also. There are numerous places on Oologah right now where you can get stuck and lots of exposed trees that aren't normally visable. That also means there are probably several more trees that are just under the water, so be very careful. I know the lake pretty well and am not crazy about running around right now even with zero wind. Unless something happens over the next few weeks the Oologah tournament may need to be reconsidered.

There are some of us that don't have to run full speed over the entire lake trying to find some Crappie. I've been telling folks for months now about the dangers of hidden and submerged items that can be a problem on Oologah. Those of us in smaller boats usually will take their time getting to some places. I consider the low water might actually give someone a chance to compete against the ones that usually do very well in these tourneys.

Kaw is also down about 3', is it going to be cancelled as well?

I'd hate to think that because Bill and I have decided to enter this tourney that we've skeered you in some way.
Not to mention, I've been postponing other things so as to get some time on the water to be somewhat prepared for the tourney as well as taken time off work. Not being able to run 90 mph tothe next spot shouldn't be part of the equation. The particular area those folks got stuck at is shallow water even when the lake is normal. Sounds as if that person either didn't have a graph, or was not paying attention to it. Most of the trees that are now exposed broke off close to normal lake level. You can see them. It's the boulders and other things near the shorelines that will jump up and grab you.

Safety first is agreed, but safety begins with the Captain and how he/she chooses to operate his ship!

I can see both sides of the problem with the lake being in the low water state as it is today. The concern I have is with alot of new fisherman to the lake that will be coming to fish and doesn't know the lake at all. I have been on it one time and that was last Wednesday. I for one would not run that lake as a safety stand point from not knowing the water. If I had to run it would be by the Navtronics card and the channel marked on it and with that it might not be a safe thing to do. Again its about the safety for all and even the most knowledgeable boaters on Oologah get in trouble when the lake runs out of water. Either way I will fish it or stay home if its canceled. Again I can't stress enough though to be prepared for adverse lake conditions if its decided to hold the tournament, and thats for any lake we fish as a group or alone. God Bless and Merry Christmas to All.....Ranger
