Crappie building up big time but not very many willing to bite. They have been hitting in the area of 8' -12' deep here lately on Oologah and a lot of the bigger ones right off the bottom with a very light hit. With this weeks warm up and Southerly winds, I look for the first round of them being in the shallows within a day or two. It's a great time to do some night time fishing from the bank for those without boats.

If you're a lot closer to Oologah then use the time it takes to drive to Eufaula and spend it on Oologah fishing. You'll come across some areas that produce every bit as good if not better. Don't discount Kaw or some of the other smaller lakes either. The Oologah brushpiles placed by the corp every year are one great place to start when they're not on the banks.

know what you mean on spending the travel time hard to break old habits hope to spend more time on oologah ---- blue and spencer finding some of the brush piles -- like to get one of the new DSI locators --- cash a problem -- cheapest one i have seen $200 lowrance --- have heard that hummingbird does a better job -- how about you guys that use them low cost ones what do you think?
Went yesterday, fished Talalah Creek along with quite a few others. Only caught two, but they were nice fish. Noone that I spoke to had any luck. Water was murky and the wind was strong.
You know in the movie "Braveheart" where Mel Gibson is telling the troops, "Hold. Hold!" Well, somewhere in Oolagah I think there is a blue faced crappie named William Wallace directing the spawn. Its just not happening yet. Was packed for a Friday, every fisherman is ready. The water was 62 and only a few fish were shallow. Most were still out at 12-22 feet.
Went out this afternoon with one of my sons and had a pretty good afternoon. We caught some pretty good fish and lost the biggest one of the day. Swung the big female into the boat and misjudged her size and she hit the side of the boat. Tried to lift her in the boat with the line and my 8 lb test broke. Must of had a frayed spot in my line, looked like she'd go around 2 lbs. Several of the fish we caught today were a little over 14 inches and full of eggs. Sure had a good time with my son, he'd never been out in my boat with me. Only had one regret, he let one of my favorite rods go in the lake. Oh well, I guess he knows what to get me for my birthday.
