Penny, all coves and ramps were frozen as of yesterday morning except, Hawthorne, Redbud, and Sunnyside. Now by late yesterday afternoon they may have opened up, but I doubt it.

We went out around 9 am yesterday morning and the wind was brutal. My buddy got wet crossing the lake so we went to the shore for about 2 hours while he dried out in the sun and out of the wind. The wind kept laying down gradually and by noon was very tolerable. We only could fish to 130 so we got in about 1 1/2 hours of fishing. We had to search for the shad again on the ledge, and it took us a little bit to find them. Once we did the bite was pretty good. We caught about 40 fish and kept 20. We caught them from 14 -27 fow. But the best depth was 22-25 fow. We caught fish as shallow as 4 feet deep down to 17 feet, with the best depth being 12-14 feet. Blue and white was our best color yesterday. The wind was almost perfect when we had to leave. If we could have stayed longer I think we would have caught a bunch of fish.

Anyone else go yesterday? We saw a few boats out on the water.

Odie did you find them on the spencer creek ledge or talala area? Must have been a long wet run up the lake I bet. Glad to here they're still biting. I went to BPS and picked up some gloves and found some bobby garland slab slayers. Can't wait to get back out but I was waiting on word about ramps. I figured spencer and talala were still iced in today but this sun ought to get a good start on melting some of the ice.

Froggie, neither. We were fishing the south end. As a matter of fact we haven't fished N. of Goose Island this winter and only fished that far north one day. We have mainly fished the south end every time. There are a lot of ledges down there. I just go to a ledge on creek channel or the river channel and look for the shad. The shad have been moving a lot here lately. They haven't been moving far but not always the same place they were the day before. Good luck!

    Post spencer creek

The ice has melted about half way down the bank. Went this morning 730 -1200 and caught a bunch but all were 7-9 inches with a few keepers. Me and guru were fishing 15-19 ft on jigs. The bite was slow and u had 2 work for it. The lake is froze from the bluff all the way 2 boat ramp.

Went out to Spencer this morning to check conditions. Ramp is closed, good fishin holes are also for the most part, and that North wind in my face was wicked cold. Good day to stay home and clean the boat up I think. Here's a 7 frame panoramic photo made with Pano on my iPhone. You can see that the duck hunters have made their way through the ice but they are launching from the bank in the swimming area, not from the boat ramp.
