Hubs were fine, but I noticed my fancy transport rod holder I made had let one of my Huckabees escape! I quickly hopped in the truck and turned around in search. Someone had already scored it. Got to Big Creek ramp and it had about 5" of sediment sitting on it for around 20' out of the water. Jerky Log and WSD had launched and somewhat cut a path. I don't have 4x4 and questioned my sanity when I backed down onto the mud packed ramp. Keeping in their tracks, I didn't even get the boat wet before I decided it was a bad idea for me to go any further. DOH! Too late. Now not enough traction to pull the heavy Ranger back up the ramp. Had to dig the grooves out in front of the rear tires with a peice of K Pattern Casing I had in the back. I was able to get enough traction to spin my way to the top without burning tread. From there I went back to the lake and launched. While talking to WSD by phone, like a moron, I caught a fish and held my phone with my shoulder whilst landing said fish. Phone falls, bounces off the deck and does a one and a half pike into the drink. SIGH! Wind was bad, caught 21, kept 20 over 10". Bobby Garland 3" Slab Slayer, Orange Chart, Bobby Garland Slab DockT'R threadfin shad.

Just might be bumper boats today in a certain area. Dinobot and his brother are joining me.
    That's some expensive filets!

Had a great trip to the land of the Okies! Didn't kill the catching, but caught several over my 4 day stay!! Most caught in 14-16 Fow down 12-14' color did not seem to mater really! The best part of the trip was all of the fellowship!
First day met up with fishin a ledge and had the pleasure of a day of hydrotherapy! Had the pleasure of meeting crappie culler, had my first smoked Bologna ever, wow is all I can say! Then to Deer Hunter Oddies for a delicious dinner!
Fished Thursday with my neighbor from home, had 69 at day's end.
Wister Slab Daddy came up to fish with me Friday, we had to go up the river thinkin the big ones must be hidden up there! Well it was a bust for us. Did find tons of sand bass and stayed busy reeling them in for a while. Back to lake about 2:30, ended the day with 21 nice crappie.
Saturday We were back at the lake for some more crappie, had the pleasure to meet Tim Cumbie of Timmy Toms Jigs, he came up to help with the catching for the day.
Met up with fishin a ledge for a shore lunch that was awesome, fresh kitty and crappie in the grease!
Finished the day with several nice fish. Put boat on trailer pulled up ramp, reaper and his crew come over and say got a hole in yer tire. Reaper says come on to up to my place, we got the tire changed, Deerhunterodie Odis had a plug kit, so we plugged it for a spare. All worked out great! Reaper I owe ya!!!! Thanks a million!
Bottom line is I had a great 4 days blessed by lots of great people!
Would like thank you all once again for the hospitality. Also a big thanks goes to CDC as it has brought so many great people together with a similar love of fishing!

Hate to hear about the Huckabee rod. Glad you found some fish though. Did you also find them in 12' of water?

Jerky Log, kinda glad you had the screwed up trailer tire otherwise wouldn't have had the pleasure of meeting you other than the Kaw tourney and in passing on the water. You're correct when you talk about the fellowship of the C.C folks. It's truly amazing how many good people share the love of chasing Crappie and how great it is to be able to comfortably meet with an otherwise perfect stranger and get along so well. Being able to fish other waters without having to drag a boat 4 hours. The list of great guys gets longer every year that I keep up with this forum. From TC (Fishin a Ledge) to George (Cricket George), Chatt Martin (ks board), Beagleman (Mizzou board), Doug Owens (Deer Hunter Odie), Allen (Crappie Papa), Scott (Dinobot) and the list goes on and on. That's just the ones that live somewhat close by. There are many more spread throughout the Nation.

The next time you feel like coming down, you'll be welcome at my little lakeside abode and we'll send you home with a load of Oklahoma Crappie.
Glad you made it home safe!

Dinobot and his Brother came out to join me for a beautiful day in January of fishing. We found fish from 11'-15' deep that were scattered. Most were keepers caught on Bobby Garland baits that put the smackdown on those Crappie who hit with a vengence. We really didn't find them stacked up any where in particular but found them here and there close to the bottom. Always a pleasure to see Scott. Name: 011.jpg

We had a great day on the water. Scott informed his Brother about the one rule I have when fishing with me and that's that they have to take all the fish we keep. Glen liked that rule. I tried my best to keep them on the fish and was happy to see it work out. Scott, thanks for the company and hope you enjoyed the day!

Sunday came and Papa did too. He brought his boat since mine is still having fuel issues. A North wind which makes it the worst fishing conditions on Oologah in my opinion. We launched at Allens Point, (fitting isn't it?) and started by working the riprap on the southside. Fish were still scattered and Allen had landed a couple of keepers while I couldn't get bit. I laughed out loud and then told Allen that it would have been a good day for his Spider Rig setup. Those in the know will understand this. The two that Allen caught was it until about 3 and then they turned on as we started tossing them into the livewell. Baits were Bobby Garland and GDaddy plastics. 11' to 14' down near the bottom and scattered. We fished until sunset and what a beautiful site it was. No clue as to how many headed south on hwy 75. Always good to see the Papa!Name: 013.jpg

Both of us were using 10' Huckabee Dippin Sticks that you can get from our own Starfish. Give him a call and tell 'em Reaper sent you!

Buck is coming out today, wind is supposed to be out of the SE when he gets here. We shall destroy them!

    Craig,
You are turning into a regular fishing reporter, you need to start adding a by line and selling them to the magazines. Love it!
