Get a small bait tank. If you can keep shad alive you can keep about any fish alive.
Its all about how ya wiggle it!

Had a feeling Whisperer knew where the crappie convention was being held , catching the grownups while I staff the nursery and that's good advice Reaper- we kept all ours alive in my live well by diligent aeration and water refill last week when we left our ice chest in the truck but an ice block should take the worry out of it.

have you ever tried to cool 150 gallons of 90 degree water? I might have to load my icemaker on board!

Hey Whisperer- what time of day were you catching those bigger fish? Strangely enuf we have caught bigger fish later in the morning and real early afternoon so I'm curious about your experience. Maybe I will sleep in a little on Saturday and wait for the big girls to wake up!

I was on the water around 7:30, boated around quite a bit checkin the electronics. Got one of those engine alarms around noon. Brought the boat up on plane and the alarm went away. Got worried about the alarm and headed to the house. Caught all of em first fish off each pile and between 8 and 12.

I agree ledge. If Kevin can catch 11 and 12 inch fish they will win hands down.

Darrell, I kept 12 fish yesterday in my live well and they all were very alive at 3pm when I turned them loose. I added some stay alive to the live well and about 5 handfuls of ice. Water temps have dropped about 7-10 degrees the last few days. Air temp was 60 degrees at home this morning, so I think it probably dropped some more.

I kept 22 in my live well today til 3pm and they were all fine. Best seven were two 12", two 11" and 3 solid 10" fish. That combo weighed exactly 5 pounds. Fished with Crappie Cooker today, her first time ever to fish for crappie and she held her own. My "big" fish came on a black and pink Beaver Bottom, the only consistent color for me today. Mary used minnows period. We fished from 14' to 22' and found larger fish deeper today- close to the bottom. Maiden voyage for the new Dink Dingey and it changed my life. I may sleep in the boat tonight. Looking forward to getting spanked on Saturday by most of you all. I tried to recruit 3 boatloads of anglers for the tourney out on the lake but I ain't too hopeful about it.

Ledge, now that was funny! Always can count on TC for a good laugh. Seriously though, I measured every fish, no kidding. Maybe I was just lucky, don't really think 12" fish means I was lucky though. I think Ledge, Doug, and George are doing what all fishermen do, lie. Shrinkin the truth in other words. Dougs been way way too quiet for sure. Reaper could be sand bagging too. I think you're all full of it. There will be some other really good fishermen there too. Russel aka Oologah boy will be fishin with my buddy Dudley and I bet Wade and Matt will be there too. All those guys can put some serious hurt on the crappie. Mark my words, 7 14 inch fish will win the tourney. Now all of you fess up, whats everybody gonna think when you come to the weigh in with those heavy stringers.
