    Odie,

I am heading to Claremore tomorrow and was wondering if I need to meet you at the ramp instead. Broken Bow for Oologah, I have never been on Oologah, but it sounds and looks to be good right now.

George, I am seriously considering starting to guide some. I have everything the state requires except paying the $132. If not this year for sure next, great part-time job for a fireman that loves to fish everyday that he is off.

Jiggin, I would be glad to help you out on Oologah. I have to work tomorrow at the fire station. I usually have a pretty good pulse on what they are doing up here.

Whisperer, I know what you mean about work. They cut out our overtime starting the first of the year. It is a pretty significant pay reduction for me. I have had more time to fish but have been fishing mostly close to home here on Oologah. Let me know when you are going and if I'm off I'll meet you out there.

Made it out to Oologah today - it was a good day to be on the water. The wind blew for a little while early in the morning but after that it was nice. We fished in several places on the South end, from the dam all the way to the bridge and caught fish in almost every spot. We ended up with around 30 keepers but threw back twice that many small ones. For the first time on Oologah I caught a Black Crappie. The fish seemed to be holding above brush in about 20 - 25 fow. Darker colors seemed to work better, caught most on Bobby G's and some on hair jigs. The fog was extremely thick on the way back to the ramp which made for an interesting ride.

If you do come up, I suggest you load some of the brush pile coordinates into a GPS in the area you want to try. http://www.swt.usace.army.mil/recrea...rush_Piles.htm

Oologah is extremely an unfriendly lake when the wind is up!!!
It's hard to be able to venture far, or even fish the deeper areas. I'm not trying to scare you off and welcome any C.Cer's that feel like fishing. I think Odie would concur with me that if you had to do some traveling, Eufaula is the place to be. There are many creeks and coves that would block the wind as well as numerous boat ramps. Just yesterday, I launched and tried to find the brush that Odie spoke of in his catches of last week. He gave a fair description of where it was and I still didn't find the honey hole. I could have been right on top of it though as I fished 29' of water and found a few fish in brush that came to within 10' of the surface. I caught 5 crappie that were 10" and less. I also caught about 5 sand bass that were 10" or more. I rarely fish the particular area due to wind and normally will fish the Talala Creek area.
The coordinates for the brush piles that can be found at the link above are very accurate. So if you do choose to come up this way, do your homework, consider the wind direction and choose the area best suited for you and your boat. Hit every brush pile you can looking for balls of shad and drop your bait.
I would just hate to see you drive up this way, with the miserable weather, and come up empty. If Eufaula wasn't so far, I'd be fishing there, but, I fish Oologah for the most part because I live within three miles of the Hawthorne ramp. And for the most part, the weather is crappy on the weekends which makes my time on the water limited.
