    Default Oologah 2-3-10

We finally got back out on the lake yesterday. The lake is 4 ft. high and rising slowly. We fished from 1030 to 430 and caught 25 -30 and kept 10. We tried water from 16 -30 ft and it seemed the best depth was 25-28ft. The fish were just off the bottom. We used jigs and the best colors were blk/char and electric chicken. We fished Spencer creek and Bell cove brushpiles that were put in by the corp. Slow day but it beat setting at home.:D Anyone else been?

Glad you got to go Odie and you even found some fish. No fishing here, working 10hrs a day mon-fri and nasty on the weekends. Have friends coming down from Springfield this weekend, maybe next weekend.
    Hey, tell me a story!

Was reading the fish study by the Wild Life Dept they did on crappie, seams not many fish over 10" size, did not give any reason. Do any of you find this to be true?

Fishing in 18-20 fow using jigs blk/char, pump/char, and electric chicken. It was slow at first then got better in the afternoon. After fishing 3 piles we had 13 keepers. We decided to make a move to the south end of the lake around 2 pm. Went to several piles I had fished last couple of years and only caught a few. Finally got onto a pile and started catching them like crazy. At times all 3 of us had a fish on at the same time. We ended up catching over 100 fish and we cleaned 50. I took some pictures of Caleb holding up some of the fish and I will try to post them later. Very scary getting back to the ramp. We had went to the south end and had to run back to Sunnyside ramp. When we came around the end of Goose Island the waves were about 3 feet high. We got soaked and our clothes became iced almost immediately. We had to take it very slow all the way to the ramp. My boat had ice all over the deck and both windshields were iced up. VERY GLAD to get the boat loaded and into the warm truck. Just a reminder of how ugly Oologah can get when the wind gets up. Looks like today may be the last good fishing day for a while, the wind is gonna blow and it is going to get really cold. Be safe and good fishing.

    Default Ooloogah 2-12-10

We went out today and fished from 10a-230p and had a 2 person limit (74). All the fish we kept were over 10 inches with the biggest one being 14 inches. It was one of those days you dream about. The first 2 brush piles we fished we didn't get a bite. We then moved and marked 2 other brush piles about 20 yds apart, that showed to have lots of shad around them. The lake is up about 5 1/2 feet so the brush piles were in 28-30 feet of water. We immediately started catching fish. The first time I dropped in I caught a 13 inch fish and the fun was on. We must have caught 175-200 fish. The fish were caught fishing jigs at about 20-22 feet. The best colors were blk/char and pumpkin/char beavertails and electric chicken and cajun cricket Bobby Garlands. We were fishing the NORTH end of the lake, only saw one other boat while we were out. I only wish I was off work tomorrow.
