Fished Saturday but didn't do very good. Not many posts this weekend so I'm thinking everybody had about the same results. Saw plenty of fish on the fish finder but they didn't seem to be in the mood. I caught 15 crappie and only had 5 keepers. Caught all but a couple on jigs. They didn't seem the least bit interested in minnows. Just goes to show some days they like jigs and other days minnows. The water was pretty stained from all the rainfall and its a wonder the fish could see anything at all. Wanted to go again Sunday and Monday but I didn't really want to fight the 30 mph wind. Maybe the lake will be better next weekend if they keep running water below the dam and we don't get anymore rain.

I believe the Racoons got them all. I say this because I saw their tracks in the mud on top of the water :D

One of my friends went last night to Spencer Creek and caught a bunch of fish. The only bad part was they all had mouth and tail disease! Their tail was too close to their mouth and weren't big enough to keep! They were fishing from the bank and caught a bunch of small ones, with several Sandies in the mix and said there was a person in a boat casting roadrunners and he seemed to be catching some much bigger fish.

I took me a little break. Went pretty hard on them during spawn, and I needed some time off. I went out on tuesday and wednesday, caught a lot of fish but they were little guys/gals. I did manage to find a few nice fish but they were few and far between. The fish I caught were anywhere from 9ft to 16ft in 12 to 20 fow around structure. All jigs no minnows.

Heading out in the morn to do some slow trolling. Hopefully we can cover enough water to catch a mess.
    Was that a bite?

Can you catch crappie shallow in the dead heat of the summer like people are saying they can on other lakes?

Fished Spencer Creek from 12 to 4pm Saturday afternoon. Saw a few sand bass being caught back in the timber and I caught 3 of them jigging the timber for crappie. Caught 3 dinks and 2 keeper crappie 3 feet down on the tree in 6 to 10ft of water. That's more than I caught there all last summer but not nearly as good as 2 years ago. I need to try it in the evening after work and see if they are in there, love the hunt and that shallow thump.
    Hey, tell me a story!

Fished Saturday from 6:30 to 11:00 and managed just enough for a big supper. Caught about 20 crappie and had 10 keepers. Caught one real nice blue that went in the skillet too. Only caught one crappie on a jig, but it was a big female and still had eggs. Had 3 or 4 good fish out of the 10, the rest were just good eaters. The crappie were suspended and I used minnows fishing 12ft deep in 19fow. Crappie are in post spawn for the most part and still not relating to the bottom yet. I expect the crappie will go to the bottom soon and hope to have another great summer. Seems like it always gets tougher when they suspend after spawn. I bet a man could do pretty good slow trolling a couple of jigs out the back of a boat. I'm gonna have to give that some serious effort sometime. An awful lot of fellas on here do that and have great success. I've got a feeling it's gonna get real good when they shut the water off below the dam.
