Super excited, got dad talked into taking a day off to fish with me. We are going to hit the bug tussel area, neither of us have ever fished this area of the lake so it should be a fun filled day of learning!!! Even if we find no fish, it'll be a great day on the water with my dad, can't wait. Will post results tomorrow hopefully........

Fished the south end today doin the water turkey techinque as George calls it. Colors of choice today were lime/chart, blk/pink, and pumkin and chart. Ended up with 47 very nice crappie and 1 topped the 2lb scale. Caught em in 3' to 6' DOW fishing 2' to 4' deep. Caught many males that were black as the ace of spades and females spewing eggs as I pulled em from the water. Not sure if the water is ever going to clear up some cause its like 2" vis.. Caught 1 drum, 1 gar, and hooked 2 huge cats in the 10 to 15lb range. Never got em landed but came close. Now you talking about a fight on a water turkey pole it was hang on and hope your line or pole didn't break. Both times the hook straightened and pulled lose. Water temp was 67.3 and got up to 70.5 when I left. Its happening right now.
Saw Todd today and he had 2 clients but never saw em catch anything while I was close but I am sure he tore em up. Got blown off the lake at 2pm but my starting battery died too. Had to pull out the jumper cables to get started. Stopped at Wal Mart and had it checked and it was bad only putting out 375 cranking amps from a 1000 cranking amp battery. So Interstate Battery is going to make a sale tomorrow....Ranger

    Panfish,
The water turkey technique as Big George calls it is 2 rods in hand. I like the 10' rod but it can be done with any length. Reason I like the 10' rod is cause you can get it in front of the trolling motor before disturbing the water. Some like using 2- 3/16 or 2-1/4 oz jiigs but myself I prefer just 1- 1/4oz with a Zum 2" Beavertail or a Crappie Pro 3 1/2" Wasshoppa. George says it looks like a water turkey with his wings held out drying to fish like that....lol....Ranger
