A day to remember the wife and I fished Crowder area thursday. Started 9am till 12 noon I was up front trying to spider rig with long poles & 6 hooks in water w/ minnows and or jigs. NO FISH. my wife in the back had 3 nice fish casting black/chart. jigs 1/16 oz jigs to the bank and real real slow. At this time there were 14 boats w/ maybe 30 fishermen only saw 4 fish landed only 1 good size.
We left the crowd and went to a north bank with some good looking rock, water temp 62 deg. For us we had a great time, fished for 2 hrs. ice chest full, stringer over loaded w/ large crappie. Cleaned 29 fish, 5 were males all but one was caught on black/char. We were setting over 15' water casting to shore and slow reeling.
Not bad for two 75 year old, never had it so good.

Minnowtime; Thats how you do it! Keep moving using a search bait to cover water and eventually your going to find fish on the banks somewhere. Dont pay any attention to the crowds, most of e'm are just gettin a tan anyhow! I always say after a day of hard fishing if I didn't find them it's not for lack of trying.

I usually see several anchored up and bobbers everywhere. Playing the waiting game like that can be unproductive this time of year. Move along till you find some, then fish like heck.

    Default Weekend report!!!

Here is the report for the weekend. The water temps. ranged from 59-64 degrees. We caught 61 keepers saturday and 67 keepers sunday. We Spider-rigged 3-5ft in 4-10ft of water. We had about 30 keepers get off on sunday. What was weird is that we caught several fish in the bottom lip and outside the mouth. Don't know if the were not biting it well or that we were fishing a little below them. I also had a buddy fishing the bank they had 137 keepers on saturday fishing 6inches to 1ft deep doodle-socking. We caught all of our fish on beaver-tails, vibra-king tubes, and 3' slabslayers tipped with minnows. The colers were white silver-flake and chart and Lime-Chart. Good fishing. EB

    Default Gentry

Just a note that it is beginning to pick up the pace on the north end of the lake. A buddy and I kept 53 big crappie yesterday from the Gentry Creek area. Probably caught 80-90 fish total. Highest water temp was 57 and we pounded slab females and males in 12" to 4' of water.

Yes the good 'ol Eufaula "Fat Backs" as I call em. Had 3 males in this class but the majority of our really big fish were females. I went out Thursday evening and fished two creeks and one bank of the main lake hoping it was time but didn't get a bite. Took the boat yesterday started in 8' of water with minimal luck, moved shallow and BAM. I like being there when the are moving in makes the last 3 trips of getting skunked shallow worth the effort.
