Got another hour of break in done this morning and decided to fish for a few with my son David. We found some fish in 7'-9' on main lake points at 5' deep. Slab Bandits in Pearl, Salt n Pepper, and Pearl Truse was the ticket.
Fished for a few hours this morning. On the water at 6 and off at 1030. Dipped some timber in 7-14 FOW. Not a great morning, but good enough for me just to get back on the water since about 3 weeks ago. Fish seemed to be a foot off bottom for those that we caught, any shallower and we never got a bite. Caught around a dozen and kept 5 for my mother to have some fish for her. Biggest being 12 1/2". Caught 3 on pumpkin/chart and Josh caught 3 real quick on a solid chartreuse with a little pepper flake in it. Naturally it was the only one in the boat. Think it came from one of Franks gift packs from the Tenkiller Tourney. He then put on a well not real sure of the color, I think they had faded a little, but going to say pearl with a very small hint of purple in it. That seemed to be the best other than the chartreuse one. Yes he put it on me today, but hey that's ok just building memories is all anyways.

Me and the youngest Brady went today and tried the north end.....cleaned 25 and caught over a hundred.....had to use minnows....yes i admit it....had to use minnows....caught two on jigs and that was it.....fish were 10' deep on structure in 10 to 13 fow.....it was a good day even if we had to use the wiggling.slippery, jump out your hand and hide minners.

It's a little less embarrassing if you call them Arkansas Jigs- to me anyway.(-:
Have to laugh when I see how many people shy away from minnows. I will give you guys a lot of credit for being die hard jig fishermen. I know 2 fellas that have made a pretty good living using those Arkansas shiners in the crappie tournaments. Don't think Capps and Coleman are embarrassed to use them.

From what I've read it doesn't matter if they have a jig on, it's going to have a minner trailer. I thought someday they would be able to catch them like the Big Boys in Oklahoma LOL. I just don't like messing with them. BUT if the freezer starts getting low, better look out, bait shop here I come.
looking at maybe trying some fishing Saturday after the rain. Is there any reports? Thought I might head south and try some shallow water area to see if they've moved up.
Caught a few last week on main lake points and secondary points in 5'-9'. Most fish were relating to rocks and some wood......Ranger
