When the lake is 14 feet over normal elevation, there aren't too many places you can fish a spot of water 12-16" deep and catch those males one after another. I suppose they spawn in deeper water because the instinct to reproduce is too strong. I remember what its like to be 15 years old and willing to spawn anyplace anytime anyway.

Bigworm....right now the fish seem to be holding in about 12ft.....so if you fish with a slipcork and find deep enough water you should do fine....there are some good banks around gentry but i havent fished that far west yet.....also need to see what the water does after this rain....right now the north end is really muddy.....and welcome to the board...lots of good folks on here

Bigworm, As Andy said, slip corking is probably a good idea. There are lots of places where you can fish off the riprap. Then again, that might not be the place to fish if the nephews are pretty young. If the fish move in shallower, the culverts under the highway are good places to fish. If the fish ARE in the culverts, there will be cars parked on the side of the road.

Appreciate the 411. My nephews are 17 so that's pretty much what I was thinking. Weather is still seriously iffy but I'm still hopeful. I'll post any results

I for one am not too happy with this rain again this year. We are hoping our dock will survive better this year than last year. I guess I better get the paddle boat off the dock so we can get out to it this year and continue to fish. We've been catching some really nice crappie at our dock so far this year. I just hope we can keep it up. Got a good start on restocking the freezer with bags of fillets.

Wasnt keeping so I wasnt counting, but it was somewhere between 40 and 60. All sizes, mostly 10-12 inchers. No monsters, which suprised me for the north end, my biggest was 1.25. A big shout out to Josh for the help, I only had 5 hours to fish and you put me right on em and at the right depth so I didnt have dork around finding out about it. Same pattern translated to 3 other spots I tried. Fished shallow, 5-8 deep in 5 to 12 FOW. Hold it still for at least 5 seconds and... whack! Water was 60, vis was 5-6 inches.

Short 21/2 hour trip this morning before the rain started. Bite today was on the breakline in 11'-12' Dow and technique was double dipping with a WT of 59. Inside Rod was set at 10' depth and outside was 12' to bottom jig. Caught well over 50 crappie keeping a full limit of 37. Not a small fish in the bunch. Big fish were almost twins weighing in at 1.92 and 1.94 lbs.
