Man, I would LOVE to have that hive!!
I am going to assume that you guys know that most of the time when a feral bee hive is captured there generally is not much honey harvested. This bee hive lived in a section of soffit less than 20" long and maybe 10" wide and 10" deep. If I had to guess the entire hive was less than 7,000 bees making it possibly the smallest hive I have ever worked. I did get 1 quart of honey from it and had planned to give it to the home owner. I would not have considered it very good hone but the home owner thought it was great. He was eating the honey all the time we were looking fore the queen. The clearer the honey the better it is considered to be. This honey is extremely dark. My own hive sits on a blackberry patch and made 3 gallons of very clear honey this year that has the flavor of blackberries in the background.
Next time a get a call to come remove some bees any one that wants can come help. I am actually not supposed to be doing this any more.
